Good for fans of Midsomer Murders and a pleasant church to visit. Situated in the centre of town it's easy to find.

“Just like the Tardis”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2014

It looks quaint from the outside but it's not until you enter that you see the full magnificence of the Abbey. Much larger on the inside then it looks and absolutely full of history.

“Peaceful”

The abbey was for me a peaceful, relaxing visit. My childhood memories came flooding back also the very old Catholic Church. The museum is well worth a visit to appreciate this Heaven of villages.

“Fantastic authentic Saxon/Norman abbey”

Well worth a visit - steeped in history. The features are well preserved and the scale of the building takes your breath away. You can imagine people worshipping there for thousands of years.

“Historical gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 May 2014

This stunning and historically important abbey is only a short drive from Oxford, and well worth a visit (especially on a fine day, when you can wander through the surrounding village afterwards.) More properly known as the Abbey Church of St Peter and St Paul, this is still a 'working' abbey church, but the more modern additions - mostly in the way of comfortable seating - don't detract from the older parts of the buildings. There is a wealth of information available to visitors - and for free! - about the abbey as well as its surroundings, which date to Roman times. Highly recommended.
