“fantastic meal”
Reviewed 2 July 2014 via mobile

First time at blakey's went on recommendation from a friend, certainly won't be the last thr food was brilliant and the staff couldn't do enough for us. we were welcomed at the door and escorted to a booth which was perfect. I would recommend to book, we were early 6 00. but within an hour it started to get rather busy and this was a Tuesday.

“Exceptional Service, Good rather than Great Food”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

Blakeys is now about the only curry house we have not tried in Lye. So it had to be done. We booked the day before, and at 7:30pm on a warm Friday evening it is already fairly full, a good sign. Very friendly welcome and this sets the tone for the exceptional service we get.

It is not just the enthusiasm of the staff. It is what you get at the table that sets the bar for others to follow. We are not just offered the pint glasses for our booze (its unlicenced by the way), we get a supply of ice, and we get an ice bucket for our bottle of wine. Throughout the evening a succession of staff seem to watch tables and remove stuff that is not need or offer stuff that is.

So free poppadoms and sauces appear, all good and fresh. We order and starters arrive fairly quickly. My Nargis Kebab I've had in lots of places and this one was ok, but not up to the high standard of others. It was very red, too much colouring? And the meat surrounding the egg was rather thin. It tasted fine though. For a main it was a combi dish of Balti Ghost Bhuna and a Chicken Tikka Paneer. The Chicken was fine though a little oily but the Ghost Bhuna was the best example I have had for a while, really tasty. With it sides of Sag Aloo, Plain Nan and Pilau Rice were all really good too.

The experience is rounded off with Orange slices and, strangely, just one Baileys on the house for my lady! What about the other two?! Anyway bill comes to £39 for 3 of us which is bang on the money good value for an unlicenced curry in the town.

Overall this is a great curry house and I can see why it gets busy. The service is second to none and that is the kind of thing that attracts regulars. The food I would say was good rather than great and I feel that some of the higher rated houses on TA in Lye are there on merit at the moment because they are getting really creative in the kitchen. They may not be attracting the regulars to the same degree that Blakeys is but they won't lose out because of the food they are serving.

Lye is a great place to come for a curry night. Blakeys is no exception but go to any of those rated highly on here at the moment - you won't be disappointed.

Blakely, we've missed you! Been too busy but great to be back here tonight. The warmest welcome as ever, thank you, great new menu and ever more generous hospitality x don't bother with the others in Lye, this is the best. Great service from Faz, Foz and Imran as ever xx

“Blakeys,The Best in Lye if not the Universe”
Reviewed 24 May 2014

I've been using Blakeys for a good few years but over the past Couple of years i've become more Regular. The Service and Personal Attention from Blakey is second to none.Blakey will explain any dish available and adjust it to exactly how you want it to taste, not many places i know will do that. From the moment you walk in the door you are treated like you are a family member. All the waiters welcome you,not in a false manner but in a genuine manner as if you are the most important person in the Restaurant, but everyone is treated with Respect from all the Staff.
The waiters are all great guys, especially Faz and Imran, they all have a good line of Banter with you.
At Blakeys it is a BYOB type Restaurant,So no expensive Bar Bills at the end of the night. The staff will even pop over to the shop opposite and get you more beer or wine if you say what you require rather than having to leave your meal,Sadly Blakey hasn't got to the stage where he treats you to the Off Licence Purchases he fetches for you.
Now we get to the Food,Well what can i say its just Brilliant and Tasty,In all my years of going there i have never had to return a meal or ever Complain.Sometimes Service can be a little slow due mainly to being so busy, but you are never made to rush out so he can get more diners in.If you wanted to stay at your table all night i don't think this will be a problem.
So if you are looking for Good Quality Food in a relaxed Atmosphere then Give Blakeys a go if you want The usual Standard type Indian Fayre then Lye has an Abundance of this type of Restaurant.
So well done Blakey keep up the Good Standards and you'll never be empty.
Thanks for the Best Experience in Dudley
