We stayed here as a stopping off point for our visit to Lonngleat and can only thoughly reccomend this accommadation the rooms were spotless and the views of the garden were really pretty Rosie and Jerry could not do enough for us and the large breakfast was the ideal way to start the day before a very energetic day at Longleat.

A fabulous place to stay. We stayed for one night in readiness for a day at Longleat.
Clean, tidy, light, airy, beautifully decorated as well as very welcoming, very accommodating and good value. Fresh milk and homemade cookies a lovely touch on the tea tray. Breakfast was yummy and we had a huge choice of freshly made, locally sourced products. 10/10

We can only agree with the fellow members of our group who have already commented on how Jerry and Rosie provided us with comfort. excellent food, and charming company during our two day stay. Both were very attentive, organising a wine tasting session that took place after Jerry had explained how he set about writing his novels, with an eye-achingly display of the books read for research. The following day, after a walk to the nearby gardens of the Stourhead estate Jerry continued with a discussion about American authors and their works. A very informative and enjoyable visit.

Stayed a couple of nights visiting Longleat and Cheddar Gorge. Rosie and Jerry were very welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. The breakfasts were fantastic especially Jerry's blueberry pancakes and the locally sourced sausages. The rooms were immaculate and the kids loved the homemade cookies. Highly recommended and we look forward to returning soon.

Ten of us visited Chetcombe for two nights with a view to having literary discussions with author Jerry. He and Rosie made us extremely welcome and the guest house provides the best of facilities. The setting is beautiful and we very much enjoyed our two days with them. The breakfasts were excellent with plenty of choice. All in all we could not have been looked after any better.

I agree with Derek's comments and would add that I found it particularly interesting to learn how much research was required for Jerry to write his excellent books on the First World War and TheTudors and I look forward to reading his next book on the Borgias. The general discussion on the style of various authors was also most informative. These sessions were conducted in a most pleasant informal manner. The wine-tasting was splendid. Rosie was charming and her breakfasts were great.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the house have a very good out look over the garden and countryside

We visited Chetcombe as representatives of two book groups, one of which is called Gasbags. All ten of us thoroughly enjoyed Rosie and Jerry's excellent hospitality and couldn't have felt more welcome. We particularly went to enjoy and benefit from Jerry's knowledge of literature gathered both as a writer and as a prolific reader. Our two literary sessions were wonderfully rewarding and I would recommend any book group in need of an extra dimension to its task to make a group booking and come away afterwards fulfilled intellectually and food and drink-wise. I would also recommend the wine-tasting.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the back if you have the option.
