Lovely town house facing the marina runned by Alison and Donald, a lovely couple who take seriously care of your breakfast served at your convenience. Rooms are superb welcoming, cozy and filled-up with little details. Amazing!

Back to Springside again, in the same front bedroom ( one of two) overlooking the sea, after our first visit about 4 years ago - delighted to find eveything was as good as ever. What more can I say that others haven't? As well as Springside, Tarbert is a fabulous place to stay, plenty to do - even if it's just watching the yatchts and fishing boats come and go from your room, the dining room/guest lounge or the bench in the front garden - and plenty of excellent places to eat - especially if you like seafood. Just ask Donald and he'll point you in the right direction.

The experience is like staying with friends

Room Tip: Both the double roooms overlook the sea, so no need to ask for a sea view if you're travelling a...

This place really is a one-off, I think. Beatifully decorated with unusual flashes of colour on certain walls, I could imagine I was in a Cornish artist's house. It certainly felt like a real home. The request for a deposit, a letter of confirmation plus a phone call the night before arrival alerted me to the likelihood that the place was run by an individualist and so it proved to be. The notice at the door stating there was a "single supplement" seemed odd, when actually a single room cost less than a double. A joy, however, to avoid television in the bedroom - so again like a home rather than a business. Breakast all at one table with other guests was lovely, the icing on the cake was the sprig of coriander leaf on the fried egg. Altogether a fasincating and not unpleasant stay.

Myself and my partner were travelling with our one year old daughter Dora, and it as our first stay in a B&B with her- Alison and Donald made us feel so welcome and were happy for her to sit at the breakfast table with the grownups in the morning! Springside is a beautiful house with wall decorations and ornaments that you could look at for hours. The cafe Ca Dora is a great place to have an evening meal (and they provided a high chair for the little one).

We had a lovely big clean and spacious room at Springside and a delicious vegetarian breakfast. The view from our window over the Tarbert sunset was a joy to behold. Thanks Donald and Alison for the perfect start to a week on lovely Islay :)

We stayed with Donald and Alison for four nights and could not fault their warm welcome and hospitality. Breakfast each morning was delicious and all our tastes were catered for, from amazing kippers to delicious scrambled egg with oak smoked salmon.
Donald was a mine of information about the local area and his suggestion for a tour of the Kintyre peninsular was just fantastic - he and Alison even conjured up some warm, balmy weather for us.
We arrived as strangers and left as friends.
Just one thing to be aware of, there is no shower in the single room private bathroom - but it wasn't a problem for us as we had two rooms and did nothing to detract from the enjoyment of our stay - oh and I must mention the cleanest windows in Tarbert!

This is a great BnB - rooms are spacious and warm and with everything you need - such a friendly welcome from Donald and Alison and a very warm welcome to also use the guest lounge - which was well stocked with books, games etc. For our pre dinner drinks Alison quickly provided glasses and bottle opener - thank you Alison. Donald's recommendations for eating were spot on - the Harbour Inn (fantastic, newly done up and beautiful food and view) and the Anchorage (new chef and great risotto !) We had a car and Donald with terrific with the time required to drive to Campbeltown or when and where we had to catch various ferries. This BnB is wonderful value for money - we have paid heaps more for much much less. The view is gorgeous also.
