We visited Scotts for lunch as our one-year old is gearing up for bed at dinner time. We'd already seen the menu online before we arrived and were looking forward to trying some of the fresh seafood landed just across the road in Tarbert harbour.

We weren't disappointed, sharing a platter of queenie scallops to start with, which were beautiful, and with a dressing and small salad that complimented the scallops rather than overpowering them. We both opted for pizza for our main, and mine in particular (seafood pizza) was the best pizza I have ever eaten. Loaded with mussels, clams and langoustine pieces, topped off with an entire langoustine. The dough was super fresh and just the right thickness and again the seafood was not overpowered by the cheese. My wife also enjoyed her veggie pizza and we finished with two lovely desserts. I've given a slightly lower mark for atmosphere as we were the only guests, but this is mainly down to the time of year/day and the bad weather, and no fault of the hosts who were very welcoming and offered great conversation.

All together a fantastic meal and brilliant value for money. Highly recommended.

We (four of us) went to Scotts twice while we were in the Tarbert area. We had two very different meals but each was of outstanding quality. The first night we thought we would play safe and we chose pizza. A measure of the quality was that while I was eating I was trying to think if I had ever had a better one. I really couldn't fault it. The menu boasted that the dough was freshly made and I think that is probably why it was a cut above. We were more adventurous on the second visit with the paella. Again it was the fact that the ingredients were fresh that made the food stand out. The waitress said the seafood was all locally sourced and that the langoustine had been alive and kicking, earlier that day. We also said later that we liked the care and attention to detail both in the food and in the premises itself. The decor was contemporary but relaxing and the staff were warm and friendly. There was a superb display of local ales and an array of malt whiskies. One of the key features is the siting of the premises, on the harbour opposite the landing point for the trawlers. Seeing the boats offloading and the hustle and bustle was a great talking point over dinner. Beyond the tralwers are the yachts and houses of picturesque Tarbert. All in all we think we have uncovered a gem.

Just had a few days in Argyll and this is one of the places I visited. A wee bit corporate in design (Starbucks/Costa?) but another independent cool eatery. I just had coffee and cake in the morning (no scones or savoury available) but I will definitely come back next time for a meal.
