We've been to WLH several times since it was taken over. The quality of the food is first class without being over elaborate. Good quality ingredients are allowed to taste as good as they are. The eating areas have been re-arranged to make the most of the views and the whole place has been upgraded to a consistently high standard. It is now our default eating place in and around Tarbert.

After deciding to skip the London 2012/13 Fireworks, my girlfriend and myself headed North to Scotland for two nights to celebrate New Years Eve. West Loch Hotel was a last minute decision, but ended-up being the perfect find. The Hotel is really well located and a short walk into Tarbert and that's only if you make it from the cosy log fire surrounds and wee dram. The service was first-class, the owner Ray is a very charming host and this is evident in the well mannered, impeccable service provided by the staff. The rooms were snug, warm and you are offered a complete and comfortable nights rest. The breakfast menu is just right and perfectly cooked and presented. It's the evening menu that's knocks-this place out of the park. The starters, main and desert are so beautifully cooked, fresh scallops (Special of the day), prawn cocktail, smoked haddock - it was all tooooo delicious and mouthwatering. The staff even nipped-out and purchased a fresh lobster from Tarbert for our New Years eve treat - compliments to the Chef - everything was cooked at a 1st class standard. West Loch Hotel - 'we can't wait to come back'. Thankyou for a perfect stay!

Room Tip: I am sure if Ray has the availability, he would always offer the front rooms with stunning Loch view...

Hotel is improving all the time. Bedroom was more comfortable, good shower. Evening meal was excellent and staff very helpful and friendly. Broken bulb and battery were instantly replaced and accounting excellent. Bed needed a table both sides and difficult to read in bed if required. Will stay there again without hesitation.

A small roadside inn/hotel which has been improved and is to a high standard. The downstairs lounge is welcoming and the restaurant is to a good Bistro standard as is the food. The bedroom was spacious and the bathroom had been modernised to a very high standard with lovely bath. The stairs and upstairs hallway are still basic, evidencing the original inn/hotel fabric.
After receiving a very welcoming personal e-mail from the lady owner we were expecting a warm welcome. Unfortunately we did not see her whilst we were there. We were welcomed and served by a young gentleman who we believe was from abroad who was very efficient but quite regimental and didn't seem to have a warm friendly manner. It detracted from our stay but was the only low point.

We spent three nights here, Sep 20-23 2012, in this very quaint and lovely hotel on the shores of a loch. The owners could not have been more helpful and the food was superb. The single malt selection was quite extensive. The only negative was the size of the rooms - much smaller than we are used to in North America - but were very clean and well equipped.
