“Quaint B&B in a Quaint Village”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

We were on a tour leading from Oban to Arran Island and chose Tarbert as a stop over. After searching all the B&B's we could find in this area we decided on The Moorings. What a great choice we made, very convenient to the village but on a quiet street with great views of the bay and Tarbert Castle out the back door. Our host was great, and the breakfast was very good.

A friend and myself went on a week trip to Campbeltown and Islay. We stayed one night in The Moorings. Excellent B&B. It has a great, friendly atmosphere. The host is very nice guy and the location is just beautiful and perfect. The room (and the house) was immaculate. Best WiFi of all B&Bs. If you are going - this is the place to stay - it's a gem.

Stayed last night and had a beautiful and spotlessly clean room (as is the rest of the house). Slept really well in the best comfy bed ever and ate a delicious breakfast. Andrew is definitely the host with the most, friendly, kind and considerate, could not ask for better. I will admit to a certain amount of kitchen envy as he has an amazing kitchen. I think next time I visit I might have to do some baking ! Again our thanks for a great stay Andrew, hopefully see you again soon, Thea and Jack x

Room Tip: All the rooms are excellent.

Had yet another stay at The Moorings B&B in Tarbert, the second this year and this time with friends from Australia.
It is incredible that Andrew, your host at The Moorings, not only maintains his standards at this clean, comfortable and cosy B&B, but even manages to make improvements every time you visit.
His standard of care and friendliness is immense and his knowledge of the local area and eateries is wonderful. On the subject of eateries Andrew's breakfasts are fabulous. His expression "Eat with me - don't eat 'til tea" is oh so true. Fresh fruit and/or cereals with variations on the Full Scottish Breakfast are available.
He has two boisterous but incredibly friendly dogs which remain outside the house.
We would not hesitate in recommending a stay at the Moorings.
Eric and Jean Morrison, Giffnock, Glasgow.

Room Tip: Both Front rooms have amazing sea views. Rear rooms have views up to the castle

I arrived soaked to the skin. Yes indeed, Andrew said, a room was available. He told me to shower while he put my wet clothes into the wash. My room was spotless. I slept like a babe. Over a lovely breakfast I asked if he might play his piano. "OK, as long as you don't watch," he said. We talked a long while about Islay, where he was born, until, looking at his watch he said, "I've got to get your room ready, there's folk in there tonight, but I've really enjoyed the blaithers!'
My dry clothes were given back to me with a grin. So glad I stayed there. You should too. He might even play the piano for you too!

We stayed two nights in The Moorings and found it was excellent from start to finish. It was impeccably clean, incredibly welcoming and in a perfect location. The views outside were stunning, and Tarbet, a perfect little town to explore. There are lots of quirky details around the cottage and it's all the better for it. Andrew was a warm and welcoming host and his service surpassed all expectations. Every detail was carefully considered and we felt incredibly relaxed and happy for the duration of our visit. Would highly recommend staying here. We loved it!
