When you first step into Jenny's you might find yourself tempted to step straight back out. The first room as you enter doesn't create a great impression with it's grotty tables and ripped upholstery on the seating. The thing that might keep you in is the sight of the food, also available for takeaway, that's on display. The lemon meringues in particular are impressive sights, they look like mini volcanoes! If you carry on through that room into the next room you'll find a far more pleasant and inviting dining area. It's not the Ritz but it's much of an improvement on the other room.
Having found a table next to the front window which was good for a spot of people watching we ordered two All Day Breakfasts and two kids meals, the kids meals being good value at just under a fiver for a main, jelly & ice cream and glass of squash. We missed out slightly with our breakfasts, if we'd arrived half an hour earlier we could have opted instead for the Full Welsh Breakfast which appeared to be the same as the All Day Breakfast but with toast and tea/coffee included in the price...and just to rub it in that price would have been 20p cheaper than what we had to pay. My advice is if you fancy a cooked breakfast get there before 11:15am. Still, it was a very good breakfast made up of fresh, good quality ingredients and nicely cooked.
The kids could have opted for a roast dinner but instead, predictably, went for chicken nuggets served with chips and beans and toad in the hole served with chips, peas and gravy. The chicken nuggets in particular were very good comprising big chunks of real chicken with a light coating of batter, these are not cheap and nasty McNuggets. One minor quibble is that when the jelly and ice cream desserts arrived one had red jelly and one had orange jelly which of course started an argument about who got to have which colour. It might make things easier for parents to serve up two of the same colour.
Overall, service from the waitresses and waiter was friendly and very efficient. I was a bit concerned about getting served promptly as we'd parked some distance away in a 60 minute limit parking space but the food all arrived quickly, but not so quickly we felt rushed, and we managed to get back to the car without finding a parking ticket slapped on the windscreen..
