I was part of a group of 7 ladies that visited the restaurant on a Saturday night. I was expecting the dining area to be very busy at this time of year, but it was very quiet.
We were welcomed into the reception area and told we could choose from either the 2 AA rosette menu or their standard menu. We were offered drinks whilst we agonised over what to chose. After placing our food orders we were quickly ushered through to the restaurant area. The waiting staff were polite and patient. There was freshly baked bread and iced water on the tables.
The food itself was quick to arrive with great presentation and good quality food with generous portions. Our party of seven ordered several different plates and everyone was delighted with their meal.
For us, the negatives were the toilets (the ladies toilets were extremely dated and had no toilet paper !) and the general upkeep of the building.
Well done on some marvelous food Royal Sportsman, but a lick of paint and a more contemporary feel would really help.
