When you visit a restaurant with thirty people you may not expect to receive high quality food well served with a personal touch. Peppino's succeeded in achieving those three criteria - the chicken and cheese board excelled.

We've often passed the hotel but never ventured in; it has the look of somewhere in need of a bit of TCL but don't let that put you off. We went in yesterday for dinner in Peppino's restaurant and although it was very quiet (school holidays are over!) and a little lacking in atmosphere, the food was really excellent. The waiter said they had changed hands in the last few weeks but whatever they're doing, it works really well. The 2 waiters were very nice and attentive without being too much, and they seemed to care that you were happy with everything.

The lounge just outside the dining room is a bit underwhelming but being almost empty probably didn't help. The decor is quite basic but the new curtains are very nice. The dining room is pleasant with a wooden floor and comfortable chairs. We had scallops and salmon/crab as starters and they were both very good, beautifully presented and slightly different to the usual. Our mains were venison and cod; both were wonderful and I can honestly say the venison was probably the best I have ever had, cooked very pink and tender with a delicate herb crust. Given the excellence of the food and the use of local produce we thought the pricing was about right. The bar area also has a small menu (burgers, fish and chips etc.) and when we went in there to pay thought the food we saw in there looked great; a good alternative if you want something smaller and cheaper. This is the best restaurant in Porthmadog and on a par with, say, Tir a Mor in Criccieth. Give it a try!

We wholeheartedly agree with almost everything in this comprehensive review. Under the new owner, décor that needs modernising will be, but excellent food and service at unbeatable value will continue as ever. Our gastro bar offers a Traditional Classics menu - of which home-made fish and chips and 100% local beef burgers are just a small 'daily specials' part - as well as the two Rosette restaurant menu (or even a mix and match from both)! In truth we bear little comparison with other restaurants in the area, being among the highest rated in the whole of Gwynedd. Yes, please do venture in and give us a try!

The chef is outstanding. His meals are way above average, in the class of those fine restaurants you will find in London. This is a recommended restaurants for any travel coming to Porthmadog. Restaurants close early - around 6pm. Go directly to the Royal Sportsman Hotel for dinner

We were recommended the restaurant by Carl at Tudor Lodge hotel. His recommendation was spot on. The Service and the food was excellent, we were made to feel very special. It was the best of the 4 restaurants (also reasonably priced) we visited during our stay. If you are in Porthmadog use the restaurant.
