“Greatly Priced Relax”
Reviewed 15 April 2014 via mobile

On arrival we were welcomed with a lovely freshly percolated coffee and a slice of cake - a lovely way to start our break. The room we stayed in was a beautiful double en-suite, with king size bed, gorgeous views with large windows and a lovely bathroom. The room was also very spacious with plenty of wardrobe space.

The B&B was immaculate to what I saw, from the gorgeously decorated bed, the clean mirrors, clean bathrooms and fresh towels daily.

On our first night, we did unfortunately come across an issue connecting to the wifi, but this to be fair was no ones fault and unfortunately just one of those things. However it did mean we couldn't browse the web, but the hosts did offer us the use of their landline to make calls, something we could've used wifi for potentially. This therefore meant that wifi wasn't so important. In addition my pillows were not the greatest, but again this is a personal choice thing. The bed was however lovely.

The shower in the bathroom was a lovely power shower. There were even added extras like little tie-up bags for I believe sanitary towels, which was a nice touch. The toilet if I was to change anything was too much of a tight squeeze for me, as it was right beside the shower cubicle, but then I need to lose weight, so it's probably explained. One thing I did notice and wasn't overly keen on however was (albeit a nice gesture) the shower gel was half/pre used in the shower. This is probably more a personal thing and not a massive issue, as you could take your own, but still worth noting. Perhaps providing little bottles of shampoo etc may be better, but to balance probably more expensive.

The breakfast was a variety of cereals if required, tea or percolated coffee, orange juice, full welsh breakfast consisting of: 2 sausages, bacon, 1 egg (cooked to your liking such as scrambled, poached), 2 half tomatoes cooked, beans, mushrooms and fried potatoes. There was also brown or white toast. It was lovely and well cooked with the poached egg just how I like an egg.

The cost per night for us was £60.00, which to be fair with the views, quality bedroom, soft lovely bed and views was a great price. All in all, a very nice bed & breakfast and even allowed us to depart after 10am.

This is the best bed and breakfast accommodation we have stay in. We had a lovely big room with beautiful views. The food was excellent and Mary & Gary make sure they can help in any way, we couldn't get a response from a restaurant but Mary & Gary rang 3 times to see if they could make a booking. Nothing was too much trouble and Gary makes a mean Bara Brith!

Four good days forecast in early March - let's go back to North Wales - where shall we stay - where else - Penaber B and B in Porthmadog. Stayed there July 2013 - said we would return - so we did. In many b and b's you can feel part of the "business" - just another booking - just another name in the register - not at Penaber! With Mary and Gary you feel as though two friends have asked you to come and spend a few days with them in the country - and they treat you accordingly. We had another great stay, although I wish these reviews weren't quite so positive all the time - we have two Canadian friends coming to the UK for the first time on their honeymoon and I want to bring them to Penaber in late July and I'll be very disappointed if there are no vacancies when I ring!! Thanks again - Chris & Beth in Neath.

Mary and Gary gave a real warm welcome on arrival, offering a helping hand with the luggage and refreshments to help lift our spirits after our travels.
We had ventured to the beautiful Porthmadog region for a weekend away to celebrate my dad's 74th birthday. The extended family were scattered amongst several B&Bs and caravan parks in the area. Luckily, we had booked early and had secured the Penaber Bed and Breakfast.

The rooms were spacious suites and were faultless. I had a large twin to myself and my brother and partner took the huge master suite next door. We were all impressed with the facilities.

Breakfast was the full Welsh (English) breakfast, choice of cereal, fruit juice, teas/coffees, toast and a plateful of a perfect cooked breakfast which sustained us all until our family meal in the early evening. Mary even accommodated the particular dietary requirements of one of our party. No one felt left out.

Mary and Gary were great hosts. We mentioned in passing our intention to take a trip to Portmerion. In a flash, Gary had rustled up some vouchers that gave us discounted entrance to the famed local attraction. It was a real plus to have a guest house with up to date local knowledge that provided extra value for money.

The family meal for my dad's birthday went well, and overall it was an excellent weekend. Great to get together in such picturesque surroundings.

It was a beautiful weekend, a beautiful guest house and a lovely warm and welcoming couple. Highly recommended.

We want to thank Mary and Gary for a very comfortable two night stay. They were so welcoming and friendly, the tea and cake on arrival made us feel at home straight away. The large bedroom was lovely and warm and the bed huge! The breakfast was excellent. Penaber is in a great location for lots of attractions in the area and within easy walking distance of Portmadog. We came for an art exhibition and a walk on the beautiful Black Rock sands which we've done before in December, but this was definitely the best B and B we've stayed in. We felt the price was excellent value and would thoroughly recommend it.

Stayed for two nights with my two boys (4&9) and Mary and Gary were very welcoming and happy for the children to be there.Excellent large cozy and warm room with comfy beds and great views.Fantastic cooked breakfast for me and Mary was more than prepared to make sure my children had the cereals they wanted.
A great peaceful location five minutes from town and great access to surrounding areas and all at a very affordable rate! We'll be back!
