“No sound except the flutter of Birds wings”
Reviewed 23 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We have stayed here many times and on each occasion our experience keeps getting better. The Lodge is superbly appointed in a wonderful location. You must put bird seed out and food out for the Squirrels as there is no lovelier sound than sitting in Bed with the patio doors open listening to the Birds busily going about their feeding just a few feet away and the Squirrels staring back at you. The noise apart from the wildlife is non existent.! The facilities are superb and nothing is lacking in this wonderful place. Well appointed kitchen and the views are staggering and change by the minute with the ebb and flow of the tides. You can fish from the bottom of the Patio (no luck yet but other guests have) but even that is a joy. We spent lovely times with me fishing and my Wife with her feet in the water :) If you want a quiet escape from noisy life but within a few minutes drive of shops this is the place to stay...:D cannot fault Abergafren :D

From the minute we arrived we were 'over the moon' and we didn't want to leave. It's a fantastic place to stay. Sitting outside every evening we didn't even read our books, we just had to soak up the views, which change with each tide. Incredibly comfortable and well equipped with all you could need, even a hairdryer. Plenty of tea, coffee, milk and even a cake and wine. Can't wait to visit again. Thanks Danny & Lisa.

“Spellbinding”

We were looking for a relaxing base, ideally overlooking water/ scenery, for our recent leisure break in North Wales. We chose to stay at the Abergafren Lodge and from the word go we were made to feel very welcome by the owners, who kept us well informed through friendly booking confirmation and pre-travel emails. We knew the general area fairly well, having stayed at the nearby Portmeirion Village back in November, and planned to use the holiday for visiting sites of historic interest and hill walking in the Snowdonia National Park. Having a comfy base would be an important facet for us.
The warm welcome continued on into our arrival where we found some nice chocolate cakes and wine left for us, as well as a useful selection of cooking/ food essentials. We also found the Lodge had: a good sized lounge with FreeSat TV, DVD, CD/ kitchen with oven/ cooker, microwave, toaster and dishwasher; a comfortable bedroom with plenty of clothes storage, FreeSat TV, DVD, and en-suite facilities with toilet, bath and walk-in shower (towels provided); plenty of power points throughout; and Satellite based WiFi.
The lodge was immediately a cosy and comfortable place and we felt right at home – a general feeling of relaxation and contentment which was to persist throughout our stay.
The views across the adjacent estuary, with its ever changing weather, tides, shifting sands and abundant wildlife (including heron, egrets, cormorants and sparrow hawks), and the adjacent layered hills were truly superb and are a real jewel in the crown of this charming property. We never tired of gazing out of the windows – and for each of our meal times spent at the lodge we most definitely had ‘the best seats in the house’.
There is also plenty of wildlife closer to home and by providing fat-balls in the feeder (Tesco’s seems a particular favourite!), we were treated to frequent visits by a range of birds (including blue tits, sparrows, robins, blackbirds, magpies and jays), the outright winner of the ‘world’s cutest squirrel’ competition and a couple of (very shy) tiny mice.
During our stay we enjoyed a varied ‘Welsh summer weather experience’, with a mix of drenching rains and high winds – our arrival coincided with a devastating cloud-burst and gale – enchanting and ethereal swirling mists, (some) pleasant moments of baking hot sun and some stunning ‘golden hours’ through dawn and sun-set.
Overall we had a very comfortable and relaxing stay at Abergafren Lodge - and having such a spellbinding base really helped us to fully benefit from and enjoy our holiday.

Well, what can we say, thank you so much for that wonderful descriptive review, you really managed to capture the magic of The Lodge and it's surroundings and abundant wildlife. (The mice must be shy as we haven't seen one in six years, glad they were outside as there are definitely none inside!!) look forward to seeing you again soon.

We stayed for 3 nights and really enjoyed our stay in this really peaceful location. The views from all the windows and double glass doors are amazing, especially when you can lie in bed, admire the view and hear the water running close by. The lodge is very clean and very well equipped. I would certainly recommend this cottage to any couple wanting a get away from it all break.

Such a relaxing stay we had. The lodge is very private and is beautifully furnished, with such lovely finishing touches. Felt at home straight away. All the technology worked brilliantly with super fast internet. The kitchen was more equipped than anywhere we have been and the gifts from Danny and Lisa where a lovely surprise. Thank you. The views where beautiful and the wild life was so calming to watch. Even though we did get sun, a visit in the warm summer sun is definitely in mind. The surrounding areas porthmeirion and porthmadog are an enjoyable visit. walks along the bay that is so private really did feel like our very own beach. An added bonus for my husband was catching a fish from the patio doors, The beach lodge is a credit to the owners.

We have just had our fifth stay here and still continue to find more to see. Lovely comfortable Lodge with everything you could ever need. Down the end of a quiet lane the silence is deafening..!!! The ebb and flow of the estuary is a never ending view to enjoy. If you are searching for a little time out from this mad world this is IT... :) 10/10 every time..
