Everything you need is there .
Our 4 visit will be back again
This very, very likeable beach lodge is in a dream location on the Port Meirion estuary ,and just around the corner - literally, from the infamous Port Meirion village, and about a mile from Porthmadog. My wife and I stayed for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed the views, peace and tranquillity, plus the never ending weather changing horizons... yes it rained most of the time, however; watching the wildlife and the light changing beach scenes was a real pleasure. the lodge has just about everything you could need for a short and very enjoyable relaxing getaway.
A huge thumbs up to Danny & Lisa (the owners), who have managed to create this little gem of a lodge.
Words dont really describe how Abergafren makes you feel, whilst you are staying and after you have left !!!. Danny & Lisa have created a beautiful and thoughtful place
There is so much changing landscape and wildlife to lose yourself in its just perfect and there is plenty to do in this outstanding area of wales
Looking forward to returning soon
A perfect place to stay for a relaxing break. The lodge is located right on the Dwyryd Estuary so you can while away the hours (and we did!) watching the ebb and flow of the tides and the many species of birds. There are also private steps down to the waterfront - so you can try your arm at fishing or just go for a walk along the sand.
The one bedroom lodge itself is tastefully decorated, of a high standard and is well equipped. A nice welcome greeted us - with tea, coffee, milk, cake & a bottle of wine ready & waiting. There is a lovely log fire in the lounge - ready to be lit with spare logs / kindling wood if needed - and charcoal for the BBQ in the shed. We luckily got to use this on two days so we could enjoy the breathtaking views whilst washing down our food supping the locally brewed ale (takeouts from the Purple Moose brewery shop or the Australia pub in Porthmadog highly recommended :)
Communication with the owners throughout could not be faulted. Thank you Danny & Lisa :) - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to be back in the not to distant future
We would rather not talk this place up too much as it will deserve much attention and bookings, but we have to be fair and say that it is just as described on this site and more ... private location, great base for exploring many of the local attractions and area - or just perfect for doing nothing. Wi-fi and satellite tv help - and kitchen basics all stocked and waiting our arrival. We will be back - assuming we can get a booking! Very highly recommended.
... that hasn't been said by others.. Perfect, secluded location, yet a few minutes to the bus stop where you can go in to the local town
Arrived and found everything was as described, with a fire all ready and waiting to be lit (nice touch).
Woken the next morning by Russell ( the resident crow), who i think was expecting breakfast, as he was tapping on the window and cawing. We found some seed and put it out and he was much happier, only heard him running across the roof after that. Was lovely to watch him and a host of other birds up close, as the tides came in and out. A lovely way to relax.....
Amenities were impeccable, absolutely no complaints and had everything we needed. The weather even held off enough for us to have a barbecue one evening
Awesome place, perfect for what we were after and we will be returning. thanks to the owners for making it so welcoming
The view from the lodge was stunning, watching the tides in the estuary change was very relaxing. The lodge had all you needed well equipped, tastefully furnished and very cosy. Communication with owners was great.
