Beautiful old building situated in the centre of the town. It's a great base for exploring Snowdonia and north wales and Carl and Anja the hosts were friendly and very helpfull ( I'm a real novice on the hills ). We loved the rooms and the showers were great, it was a real treat. We'v stayed there twice now and will deffinatly return

I stayed here with my partner for 2 nights and used it as our base for exploring North Wales. From what we saw, I would say this is the best place to stay in Porthmadog by a mile.

When we arrived, we were greeted in a really warm and friendly way and given lots of useful information. The owners have even put together their own guide of the area, which made finding a decent local restaurant much easier.

Our room was fairly small, but comfortable, warm and had everything we needed. The en-suite was really nice, and the shower was so powerful! Exactly what you need after climbing up a mountain! The breakfast selection was good and it's clear that the owners go to a lot of effort to make this a really lovely place to stay.

I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone thinking of staying in the area.

When I travel on business I am always conscious of the need to to be frugal. This often leads me to making some horrible decisions and staying in accomodation where it has been necessary to wear wellington boots in bed and marigolds in the bathroom. I am also aware that when people glibly say that all you really want is a bed for the night for the most part they are talking nonsense. Probably the same people who also claim that all you require from a car is that it takes you from A to B. (In which case why do we not all drive the same type of car ?)You need a bed and accomodation that is obviously and clearly clean with a floor (preferably clean) to pace if you should feel the need .You would like to takea shower that is pleasurable in a bathroom that is cleaner than your own bathroom at home .I found all these boxes were ticked quickly without any equivacation on my recent stop over at the Tudor Lodge. The host and hostess seem to take great care to ensure that all the details are correct . The quality of the accomodation was of a high and I would say thoughtful standard - with some display of eclecticism in the furnishings and fittings. Complimentary breakfast was also generous and fairly comprehensive. Full marks for a standard of stay I would say that would shame some of the three and four star hotels that I have stayed in more as an inmate than as a guest .

Tudor Lodge is a lovely place to stay. My single room was clean, charming, and comfortable.

Tudor Lodge is convenient to train stations, supermarket, shops, and businesses. Well suited to those arriving by train. In good weather those without a car can take a long walk to Portmeirion Village. For a nice day out walk to Portmeirion and sightsee there, then take the Ffestiniog railway from Minfordd to Blaenau Ffestiniog and return to Porthmadog for a short walk back to the lodge.

My husband and I stayed one Saturday night. We were very warmly welcomed by Carl.
Our room was immaculate, clean comfortable and modern.
We had a good night's sleep as the area was quiet at a reasonable hour.
The local area is popular with walkers and cyclists, there were many local attractions nearby too. i.e, steam ralilway, adventure outings and much more.....
We dined out at the Ship Inn Lombard Street for evening meal the food was excellent and staff were great. (The beer was good too!)
The lodge provides a lovely continental breakfast the waitress was very attentive and pleasant..
We had a little mechanical problem with our car as we were about to leave, but the ever helpful nice young man Carl came to our rescue and got us on our way. Many thanks Carl.
We look forward to staying at The tudor Lodge again.
The Tudor lodge may also be opening a new hotel in 2010 and I would be more than happy to sample there too.

Arrived in Porthmadog and found the Lodge 5 min walk from the train station. Tudor lodge looked really inviting from the outside and once in there we were not disappointed. Room was great and very clean, nice comfy bed large tv, coffee and tea. Bathroom was large and modern with a great shower. We were in room 5 at the back of the property and at night it was very quiet. Breakfast was plentyful with cereal, fresh fruit, cheese, cooked meats, toast, fresh rolls and the best croissants ever Thankyou for a lovely stay

While there's not much to see in Porthmadog itself, this hotel will provide a cute, clean and in some ways slightly modern place to stay. This bed and breakfast ticks all the boxes with a great breakfast, great service/advice and most importantly, comfy beds and great bathrooms!
