We stayed at the Westminster Hotel in Rhyl North Wales , what can I tell you , well , the hotel is in a great location just across the road is the beach and just 3 minutes walk to shops , buses , the railway station is just 10 minutes slow walk away and actually goes to lots of places including London Euston we also found the trains very much on time and clean and tidy .The hotel has lots of rooms covering 4 floors and we were lucky enough to have of the larger rooms on the third floor , with bath and shower over bath , the rooms have tea and coffee facilities . and television .The hotel has a lift that carries just 2 Adults it is very tiny but works .
there are a few Health and safety issues like there should be a warning in areas like in the hallway where there are low ceilings in an awkward position , also a warning of caution stairs could be slippery when wet ( near the entry doors ) a definate NO SMOKING in any room s as it was quite obvious that our room had had smokers in it there was even an ash tray .in the room . the smell of cigarettes was not just that of a previous client every time you opened the smell was there ,it was in the carpets ,curtains probably in the walls .
the dance hall was so small that nobody could dance , there is one little bar which is also the receiption desk .However the staff were all very friendly and for a short stay was o.k . On arrival at the hotel the owner / manageress expresses to customers to let her know of any problems as soon as you notice them , not leave to the last day ,
The hotel itself is really in need of refurbishment ( we noticed that a lot of the hotels in the area were also looking a little tired ),and it looks as though something is in the pipeline ,with some scaffolding outside the bathroom window ,which I hasten to add has no privacy window or curtain !!! clean towels were supplied .
Entertainment was on two evenings and good ,but nothing special food was satisfactory albeit just enough , eg ful English breakfast was , 1 egg ,1 piece of bacon, a tablespoon of baked beans and 1 sausage , and toast, tea /coffee or a glass of apple or orange juice , Dinner , shared potoes, peas and carrots, with whatever was meat of the day , or one day cauliflower cheese as the main dish . alternately was salad , no menu on the table the girls had to memorise what meal yo wanted , sweet , varied with either cheese and biscuits , ice cream , and on one day fruit crumble with custard , each day was a little different but all very basic , if you wanted sauce you had to ask and was given a sachet from the waitress's pocket . you were not offered drinks if you required a drink even water you had to go to the bar and get it , if you required tea or coffee you had to go and get it from the foyet , ( breakfast was either at 7.00am or 8.00am Dinner was at 7.30 )

Room Tip: The sea views are really nice but ideally 3rd or 4th floor , also some of the side rooms also have...

This hotel is a typical seaside hotel that is being renovated and they are doing a good job. The staff are so helpful and always pleasant and although everything is pretty basic, our stay was enjoyable.

Our dismay however at Rhyl was enormous. I haven't been to this resort for over 20 years and I was upset at the deterioration that is everywhere. The council need to get their act together and drag Rhyl back to athe lovely resort we all knew and loved

Room Tip: We upgraded to a newly refurbished sea facing room. Everything in it was new but the cheap mattress...

We stayed here in August with our dog. The hotel was full.. With lots of animals as it is pet friendly. The staff were very friendly and pleasant. The room was ok. Prob a 2 star. It was clean. The bed was uneven which the staff put down to the fact it was an old uneven building. The bathroom was clean, but very dated, slightly in need of a refurb. The room was pretty small and the car park was even smaller. Thankfully I was only staying 2 nights and having a dog with us I couldn't expect much more than a 2-3 star hotel. The dining room was big, breakfast was ok. Central location in Rhyl, though I would recommend the nearby town of Llandudno, much nicer/classy/ seaside resort with lots to do and see. Very picturesque and hotels looked nicer too. Wouldn't go back to this hotel to be honest, though it is good for travellers with animals.

We booked 3 nights with a KGB voucher and having read the reviews were not sure what to expect. Glad we ignored them the hotel was excellent. Rooms large and very clean ( we upgraded to a sea view and well worth it). The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was good. We will certainly stay again.

Room Tip: Well worth upgrading to a sea view room

The room was clean and warm, and the staff pleasant and helpful. The general state of the building is poor. The food left a lot to be desired. The location is pleasant, facing sea front, and close to local shopping centre. We booked with a coach trip so had no choice of hotel. You get what you pay for!

Bought a KGB voucher for a 3 night stay incl. breakfast, didn`t know what to expect, hotel quite dated but clean, lovely sized room and paid extra £30 for sea view and it was worth it. Great staff, lovely warm welcome from the receptionist on arrival (sorry we didn`t get your name) and the waiting staff were just as lovely, breakfast was speedy and delish. Many thanks The Duckworth family (Daughter had the pink hair)
