The welcome is lovely, the power showers are larger than the usual boxes that you get! Two of the bedrooms have roll top baths (as well as the large power showers). Standard drinks tray in the bedrooms. Breakfast is the full monty or cereals or toast - whatever you heart desires! Besda are very comfortable.

In the summer there is a BBQ are and tables and chairs so that you can make use of the extensive gardens. There is a microwave so if you decide that you want hot food in the evening it iseasy.

Mick and Linn the owners are well informed in terms of what is available in the local area and nothing is too much trouble. Lots of parking if you need it.

If you are hoping for a romantic weekend - ask for Room1 - hip bath, fab power shower, and a large bedroom beautifully decorated....

I needed a B&B at short notice in Newtown, Powys and found that there wasn't much of a choice. I contacted the Gro and they had room for me at £30 night en suite. They said that they didn't take cards, only cash or cheques. I expected it to be someone's spare room. I was very pleasantly surprised. Beautifully restored vicarage and furnished with antiques, but has wi-fi and TV in every room. The room I had on my first visit even had a roll top bath included as well as the normal gas power shower. Check out their website. I thought I'd misunderstood the price.

We stayed here on impulse, having visited the area looking at properties over a snowy weekend without securing accommodation in advance. A scribbled note before leaving home with numbers for a 1/2 dozen BBs had us randomly calling places from a local pub over supper.

Thankfully the Gro had a room and off we went in the snowy darkness. The Gro is very centrally located just off a main road, by the new tesco. A long driveway brings you to this former vicarage which has been lovingly converted into a very special BB. Our room was lovely, with sparkling en suite shower room - both rooms with original wooden floors and doors (or so they seemed anyway) and the bathroom with a great shower. Lush fluffy bedding and towels, flatscreen TV and the usual coffee/tea made for a really cheery welcome. Breakfast was a serious affair with loads of bacon, sausage, beans, mushroom, eggs, toast, fresh coffee and cereal too. The owner of The Gro, was wonderful to chat with over breakfast and a genuine kind character.

We definitely would recommend this place and would stay here again in a flash. We stay in BBs etc a lot and this is a really special place. Unfortunately we left early and forgot to take pics.
