“Wonderful relaxation in grand surroundings!”
Reviewed 8 August 2014

We returned to the Crane for the first week of our holiday in Barbados. We stayed in a 3 bed penthouse with plunge pool and roof terrace and Jacuzzi. The penthouse was beautiful - huge big bedrooms all en suite, fully furnished with everything you would need. Breakfast at L'Azure was great - buffet some days a la carte others. All staff really friendly and helpful from gardeners to chefs! The beach is beautiful but a bit to rough to swim in. The pools are perfect - all looking out to sea. We ate at Donofrios Lazure and the Carriage house and enjoyed our food in all 3. Its really not far to get anywhere - we hired a car -10 mins to airport 2 mins to Oistins - 30 mins to Bridgetown. A great base to explore from and recover after a long flight! We cant wait to return. many thanks from the Ladd/Lucas/ Sargeant family

As a musician with Bunji Garlin and the Asylum Vikings, I stayed here as we came Barbados to perform for "Soca Titans", a huge soca concert on 31st July 2014.

The resort is breath-taking! Among all the flora, it seemed as if we were in our own village. And we have our own separate pools!

Everything you need in a residential was there. I love to cook, so the pots and pans, meat knives and board, cutlery, dishware, etc was welcome. There is a General Shop near the Reception area to get your lil' groceries, local spices, etc, so I was in my element.

I expected the TV and cable in every room, but they had CaraClassics Channel!! I enjoyed the original black-and-white Superman, Black Falcon, Open All Hours, Three Stooges, and sticoms since 1974...all in my room. So nice away from the traditinal HBO, SHOWTIME MTV etc...

The beach is just a few feet away. Though I didn't go the the beach, the view from the deck was very picturesque.

I am going to come back definitely..with the whole family!! Next time I will try the Grill Restaurant, Fitness area, Spa and the market!!

Room Tip: The rooms on the ground floor give you access to the pools straight from the back exit.

Don’t come to The Crane if you are looking for lots of activities and nightlife but if you are looking for a place to relax and unwind then this is it. The resort is set on a cliff above Crane beach on the southeast coast of Barbados less than 10 minutes drive from the airport. No matter when you travel you can expect warm weather and sunshine with an ocean breeze to keep you comfortable. The resort is well laid out with lots of paths through manicured natural vegetation so that it never seems crowded even when fully booked. There are 5 pools (4 designer pools with water features and 1 old-fashioned swimming pool). More adventurous swimmers can take the stairs (or the elevator) down the cliff to swim at Crane beach that well-deserves its ranking as one of the world’s top beaches. The ocean is quite rough but the beach slopes gently so smaller children and weak swimmers can get splashed in the shallows while stronger swimmers enjoy body surfing and playing in the waves.

The apartments are spacious with well-equipped kitchens and laundry facilities. Some have private plunge pools and the ocean views are superb. There are 4 restaurants (with varied menus and good food – 3 have ocean views), a bar and a coffee shop on the property along with a well-provisioned general store (reasonably priced), a department store, an air-conditioned fitness centre and tennis courts. The resort is usually pretty quiet after 10pm but there are a couple of bars within walking distance. Fast food and a supermarket are about 5 minutes away by car or taxi and it takes about 20 minutes to reach the nightlife on St Lawrence Gap and less to get to the Oistins fish fry.

We have stayed numerous times with and without children and also with grandparents (the resort is a little tricky to navigate for those with limited mobility) and always enjoy the surroundings and the atmosphere. The staff are friendly and go out of their way to help you. Some minor annoyances take time to rectify (island time) but any serious issues are dealt with promptly. Our whole family loves the Crane – it is the perfect place for a family holiday or a romantic get away but maybe not for cutting loose on spring break.

The place is breath taking we stayed in Building 8 fourth floor. Great breeze partial view of ocean. My husband had won the trip as an award. We took our 3 youngest 15,16 and 25 years old. I never heard I'm bored. They loved the beach and the quaint surroundings of The Crane. I enjoyed the deck every morning watching the sunrise and the sunset. Our room was enormous with an adjoining room for the boys. We had a full kitchen with all amenities needed to cook, A washer and dryer, our own little plunge pool the boys totally enjoyed. You can walk down to the beach there the view just breath taking. Very secluded. There is a place to buy groceries there. Heads up! most of all the little shops there are closed on Sundays. So get your souvenirs early. Do not miss out on the infinity pool that area was my most favorite. I want to thank Kristy the yoga instructor she was awesome. I definitely would take her class. She does do private lessons also. Since I love gardening the day the boys went golfing I walked the grounds to look at all the beautiful plants and THANK YOU to Livingston he was so great taking his time telling me about all the different flowers and palms. Just remember when you get there you are on Barbados time. Breath and relax

Room Tip: Building 5 are all ocean view. But we were in building 841 and it was still breath taking

The star of this property is the beach. Its much better than you can imagine....the waves are a perfect 10 foot mostly year round.......but its very secluded and beautiful. The old hotel still rules over the island. Its additions are positively luxurious. Iv'e never seen so much Mahogany. Restaurants were sleek and exotic. A class act.
