“Interesting and great rum”
Reviewed 31 May 2014

Lovely grounds and you can walk around the factory. Informative signs means we did without a guided tour, and all free!

TIP. The tours from the cruise ships tend to go mid morning and just after lunch. Avoid those times! The bar staff are great to chat to which you can only really do with no crowds around.

“Happened upon by chance.”
Reviewed 13 December 2013

Well I've done the Mount Gay rum experience a number of times. It used to be very good years ago but now is just a quick sales pitch and a few 'free' tasters. So we are driving back from Bottom Bay to Oistins for Friday fish night and drive past the Foursquare rum distillery. We had an hour or so before dusk and noticed the sign saying free admission. We pulled in and were immediately impressed with the set up. The derelict factory was restored very tastefully in 1995 and unlike Mt Gay, actually produces and stores rum here. You can wander around the distillery at your leisure reading the informative signs about the processes. At the end there is shop /bar and provided you buy something, all tastings are free too. R L Seales is still a family owned business and makes rum in various names, Tommy Bahamas, Old Brigand, Doorlys, Mahiki etc. I think they make rum for Anthony Hunte's garden too. Anyway, this is a proper distillery and a proper insight into rum making. If you like rum definitely visit here and St Nicholas Abbey.

“Foursquare Distillery a good way to spend a couple of hours”
Reviewed 22 September 2013

We caught the bus from Bridgetown to the Foursquare Distillery. On the day we visted the American ambassador was also visiting.

The first thing to note is that if you do a self guided tour it is free. We choose to have a guided tour with Dawn and it cost $5 per person (10bbd$)

The history of the place is amazing, and seeing it as it is now, compared to the photos of how it was shows what an incredible job has been done there.

We also choose to have a tasting presentation at the end and tried about 6-8 of heir products. his also cost $5 per person but was well worth it.

“Very Nice Place To Visit”
Reviewed 6 June 2013

The drive to get here is very enjoyable. It passes through sugar cane fields and the rural country side. Our group was here on a RCL cruise excursion.

The staff at the distillery is very good. The tour was short, about 30-45 minutes, but was well presented.

The tasting room was a bit dark and dreary. But the rum was a very good quality. The pours were average as far as quantity.

The only negative to report was that their credit card machine was not working. So I did not buy as much of the rum as I might have. There was also a local artist there who did not sell any of his prints. Probably due to there being no CC machine.

If you like rum it's well worth a visit.

“Learned A lot!”
Reviewed 27 May 2013

This was a great place to learn a lot about rum. The guide was very knowledgeable, and I thought the whole process of making rum was interesting. At the end of the tour, you get to try some rum samples.
