“stay in april 12”
Reviewed 25 April 2012

We (family with 2 teenagers) stayed in April 12 for two nights. We had our room at Ridel y Calaribel, our teenagers at Rubios house directly behind this casa.
We all enjoied our stay very much. The families of Ridel and Rubio are both very charming and friendly. The food was plenty and very good. We had interesting discussions and we loved the view from the roof terrasse.
We can recommend this casa very much and we will visit you again another year!
Best regards from Switzerland
René and Monika

We stayed at Casa Ridel y Claribel for 3 nights in March and had a great time. Ridel, Claribel and their two daughters are a warm, welcoming family, that make you feel right at home in their lovely house. The house is just a short walk from the Viazul bus stop. They have two rooms for guests. We stayed in a room that you access through the main entrance of the house with two beds and a bathroom across from it. For privacy, there is a door you can shut to close your area off from the rest of the house. This room also has access up to the rooftop terrace which provides the most gorgeous views! One of my favorite parts of the stay was eating breakfast and dinner up on the terrace. The other room that is for rent has it's own entrance and a balcony. Claribel and her mom cooked up some great meals. We had breakfast and dinner at the house each day, enjoying fresh juices, pork, red bean soup, lobster, etc. The portions were huge. Ridel does an excellent job assisting with planning your time in Vinales. The first night he helped us map out how to best spend our days and what made the most sense to do on the same days to save money on transportation, etc. We wanted to go horseback riding in the valley. Ridel set us up with a guide who took us horseback riding through the valley with stops at a tobacco farm and cueva del silencio - a cave with a swimming pool at the end of it. The next day Ridel helped us set up a taxi to take us past Mural de la Prehistoria, then to Cueva Santo Tomas, and then on to Cayo Jutias for a day at the beach. He also helped us arrange a taxi back to Havana. The accommodations were great - very clean, hot water, great meals, friendly hosts, very knowledgeable and helpful with planning. This is a great casa from which to explore Vinales.

We had the pleasure of staying with Ridel Claribel and their daughters Laura and Claris in their interesting home which is a short walk from the centre of the town of Vinales. The food, cooked by Maria, Claribel's mother and Claribel was delicious and we had to beg for smaller portions as we could not eat all that was put before us! The black bean soup was especially delicious and I was lucky enough to leave with their recipe! Ridel was a fund of local knowledge and we took his advice and went on a leisurely 4 hour horse ride around a tobacco plantation which was interesting and exciting. We also went on a hike up the mountain with Claribel and her delightful daughter Laura meeting many relatives on the way. It was with a sense of achievement we arrived back at the cassa after quite a climb! Laura was also a very good guide - taking us out each evening to show us her favourite places. Vinales is a beautiful location and we extended our stay with Ridel as we enjoyed ourselves so much. All in all a very memorable stay and a highlight in our month's stay in Cuba.

Room Tip: We had a room on the side of the house with no outlook but it was very comfortable and more importan...

I was priviledged to be able to stay with Senor Ridel, Senora Claribel, Laura and Claris for three nights at the beginning of March. On arrival I was instantly inaugurated into the family being met off the bus by Ridel and then given a walking tour of Vinales from excellent tour guide, Laura (9 years old). It was wonderful to feel like a member of the family my whole stay.

The roof terrace overlooking the outlying tabacco fields on the edge of Vinales is stunning and perfect to watch the sunset with one of Claribel's marvillous mojitos.

I was treated to some excellent food during my stay and each meal was always a banquet. The most memorable meal was camarones en salsa - although each camaron (or prawn / shrimp) was actually the size of a small lobster!

I also enjoyed chatting with Ridel and understanding more about life in Cuba and would like to thank him and the whole family for making my stay in Vinales unforgettable!

Casa Particular is the way to stay in Cuba and if you want to stay in a really good one in Vinales, take Ridel and Claribel's! They are such a nice people and we enjoyed our staying there, couldn't feel more welcome. Their beautiful home (with the view from the roof terrace!) is in a perfect location, a little bit from the "center" but short walk to every where. Ridel is really nice and he can arrange anything (there are lot of things to do in Vinales) and Claribel and her mom Maria are the best cooks, the food was delicious!! :)
We are thankful of this beautiful experience people letting us to stay in their home and being that friendly and heartfelt and we can easily recommend this Casa to everyone.

Perfect welcome, the hosts make you feel at home instantly.
The room was comfortable and we had a beautiful view from the terrace of Vinales Valley.
Claribel is an excellent cook, we always ate in, the food was always delicious as well as the mojitos. Ridel has good advise for what to see in and around the town. And we always had interresting talks in the evenings, learning more about Cuba.

We vacationed in Cuba for two weeks. We had the opportunity to meet two very nice Cuban families, one in Havana and the other in Vinales. We were very lucky to have chosen this Casa Particular in Vinales because it had a wonderful room with 2 double beds in a very clean tranquil environment and it had a private entrance from the main house. It was only about a 5 minute walk to the center of town, a darling old Church, local shops, and businesses. The most rewarding part of the trip was meeting Ridel and Claribel and their lovely family who made us feel like welcomed friends from the beginning. The home made foods and deserts they served us were abundant and very delicious especially their vegetable soup. They are both doctors who besides renting their home gave us personal attention and advice of where to sight see in the town and local areas of Vinales. Vinales is very beautiful ! We will definitely return to stay with Ridel and Claribel. We highly recommend their Casa Particular!
