“For Views its spectacular!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 March 2013

This is a nice hotel with a spectacular hotel over the valley. We were really looking forward to our 2 night stay here. For the most part, it was fine, however the fact that we had no hot water for the duration of our stay, really p****d me off!!!!! I complained on our arrival day, but nothing was done. On the second day they said they would send someone to fix it so, after a 5hr hike I couldnt wait to get back to take a long hot shower but it was still not working. I complained again but was told there was no hot water in the whole hotel. In fairness to them, they gave us a few bottles of wine as compensation, but I'd have preferred a hot shower!! We paid a lot of money to stay at this hotel, opting for the junior suites for the great rooms and amazing views, so this was something we certainly wouldnt expect. It does a nice buffet breakfast too, but get there early!!!

The rooms are shabby and springs stuck out of the matresses, however, we did have plenty of hot water. Views fabulous. Breakfast OK. Reception was poor on arrival, they said they couldn't find our booking (we travelled independently) we waited for ages and they refused to phone our travel agency, my mobile wouldn't work. In the end the Cubanacan tour rep sorted it out for us. Short taxi ride to Vinhales village. Recommend Restaurant Tomas in the village excellent food and service.

Our room was in the Gulag block but had a great view. Very dated rooms, very shabby furniture. Our shower and bathroom was filthy and covered in mould. The rooms don't seem to have been decorated since 1960 and the walls were covered in spillages. The bed was uncomfortable and like sleeping on concrete and I like a firm mattress! The pool was very large but not very appealing as it was leaking and the water level did not reach the skimmers. There was debris in the pool too. There were cats, dogs and hens wandering about. You do not need an alarm clock as the 7.30 cockerel will wake you up and might even come into your room if you are ground level. The food was good and eggs cooked to order. This hotel needs a new manager as it could be fabulous with attention to cleanliness as a start. Views are heavenly!

Room Tip: Great views from every room the higher the better. Take some cleaning products with you!

We arrived at Los Jazmines in unseasonal heavy rain so flip flops proved very handy for walking from the main hotel (reception, restaurant and bar) to the three storey accommodation block. The rooms and en suites are basic and a little shabby, with an old fashioned TV and fridge, but, as everywhere in Cuba, spotless. But I give this an excellent rating as each room has its own balcony looking down over the Vinales Valley, with its Mogotes and farming landscape. Throughout my stay I had to drag myself away from the balcony. The view was ever changing as light, clouds, shadows, rain successively passed across it. It was the utmost in peace - so much so it was hard to do more than whisper. The only sounds were occasional cows lowing, birds singing, wind whispering and sometimes rain tinkling. The hotel is small but has an excellent buffet - so much nicer than those in the large, tourist hotels and the staff friendly. A nice swimming pool area with spectacular views, a small shop and a doctor on site should you need one. I'd recommend you use your DEET here as you have to walk between buildings and as opening your balcony doors for yet another look out will be irresistible.

Room Tip: All rooms have the same balcony view, but if your mobility is impaired, ask for one on the ground fl...

Spent 2 nights here as part of our escorted tour of Cuba. The hotel was built in the 50s but has a distinctly state-run atmosphere. The rooms are very basic but all have an amazing view across the Vinales valley. The setting is truly spectacular.
We, and several other guests, had no hot water in our bathrooms, although one morning at 6.30 am, a tiny trickle of hot water appeared in the shower, but that was it!
The pool was nice to sit round, but the water looked unappealing and the pool only two-thirds filled. Breakfast was acceptable and the dining area very pleasant.
Reception staff were unhelpful and disinterested. After a long wait for a safe key for the room, I gave up and went away again as the receptionist completely ignored me. However, another member of staff later on was completely different, even joked with us!

Room Tip: All rooms seemed to have a balcony with view across the valley, but probably worth requesting room w...

We were quite satisfied with our stay at Los Jazmines. Our room was nothing fancy but everything worked (actually not everything - the fridge was on the blink) and it was immaculate. It had an ample balcony with two rocking chairs. The view from the balcony is indescribable - one of the more beautiful landscapes in the world. Food was above average for a less than five star Cuban hotel. The staff was accommodating. We loved the place and were sorry to leave.
