“Lovely place, great views and good base for touring north Dominica”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 February 2013

We liked it here very much. Alicia and Rick are excellent hosts and do everything they can for you and the other staff are great too. The bar/restaurant has good views and serves excellent food - a mixture of international and local fare.

The rooms (cabanas?) don't look much from the outside but are beautifully decorated and comfortable inside and have lovely views across the bay. Particularly enjoyed sitting outside in the cooling ocean breezes.

Alicia is having trouble finding planting to cope with the salt air but when she does that and when they finish the roadworks and sea wall outside, this place will be perfect. Apart from that, all very good and I have no hesitation in recommending Pagua Bay House

Be aware That the ocean Is very loud at this place And the wind Is very present
For us we could not sleep. Other people said they were not bothered
Besides That Alicia And Rick are the best people you CAN ever meet
And they built à very original place with a lot of good ideas in decoration
It's Nice to bathe in the river which Is close
Otherwise you have to drive because nothing much to do around
I should say it Is a bit expensive
But it Is à great place to stop daytime for lunch for the view on the ocean And its originalité
No spa And no fitness

Room Tip: More on top to get away from the ocean Anyway not 1 And 2 where the view Is on the parking lot And...

My son and I spent a few days in Dominica (our favourite island in the Caribbean) with great friends, who invited us to stay at Pagua Bay House. We started with a brunch the day we arrived and finished eating with dinner on the day we left. What I want to say is: The food is excellent and we ate "non-stop".

My son is a chef and he said, the difference is, that the food is not only delicious but done with such love by the owner and Helena, the lady in the kitchen. We must not forget to mention Gabi, who served the food always with a smile and a chat. She also took care of the rooms (spotless).

The accommodation was very comfortable. The hammock got used, the view to the sea is great and the shower is big enough for a large family. Yes we were very happy.
We live in Barbados and having a break in Dominica and Pagua Bay House was just what we needed. THANK YOU to everyone...and yes the ribs!!! Try the ribs!

I have just spent a few days in Different Dominica where I stayed at the beautiful Pagua Bay House. These ocean front cabanas and the adjoining restaurant are owned and managed by American husband and wife team Rick and Alicia. The cabanas are beautiful and very comfortable with big imported from America feather beds! The bathrooms are a profusion of marble with large baths or showers depending on the type of cabana you choose. Overall the accommodation is excellent, each of the cabanas being independent with their own porch, tables and chairs and in some, a hammock for enjoying those lazy days! The restaurant is excellent too with a fantastic view over Pagua Bay. There is a pool area and deck chairs. The food is brilliant and I would recommend the marinated ribs!! All in all a very different but superb experience!

We stayed at Pagua Bay House in January 2013 and loved it. Rooms are modern and spacious and the beds & linens are wonderful. Rick and Alicia are excellent hosts - friendly and informative. The hotel is relatively small so you get personal attention. The food in the bar/restaurant was very good especially compared to what is generally available on the Island. The view is fabulous and the air is about as fresh as you can get on Planet Earth.

Located so close to the Melville Hall Airport it is a great place to stay especially if you arrive after dark or have a very early morning flight when you leave. Driving in Dominica is difficult to say the least - winding, narrow, steep roads that do not have lighting - and driving after dark is to be avoided. We stayed for 3 nights at the beginning of our trip; our flight was delayed until after dark and it was great to arrive at the hotel in less than 10 minutes. When we left our 7:00 flight meant that we had to be at the airport by 6:00. It was still dark when we set out and again I was very happy to have such a short drive.

Accommodation in Dominica is a difficult thing. You really need to pay a good fortune to get something decent. Pagua Bay definitely is decent, in fact, it is beautiful with a magnificent view right across Pagua Beach. Nice pool, cute cabanas and the owners Rick and Alicia are totally amazing. We didn't have a reservation but the two made us feel like home at once, although the Hotel had just re-opened for a few days in November 2012. The owners did a great job with the new cabanas and the restaurant/pool area. Pagua Bay is close to the Melville Hall Airport which is another big plus. They even offer you a pick-up-service, but you will need a rental car anyway on Dominica to get to the attractions. Thanks for a wonderful time (and our lucky hat ;-))

There are some trips that fade quickly from your memory and then there are others that stay with you forever. Pagua Bay House and Dominica are definitely in that latter catagory. We knew Dominica was not the white sand beach, high rise hotel, piped in rock music kind of place - thats why we went there. And Pague Bay House was just the perfect conbination of quality accommodations, gorgeous views, wonderful food right on the edge of the jungle. If you want an away from it all feeling where the only noise is nature, this is it. Plus, Rick and Alicia are the most wonderful hosts - you feel like you've known them for years. We stayed 4 nights and wished it had been longer. Thank you for creating that "forever memory" for us.

Room Tip: We were in Cabana # 4 and we think its the perfect spot on the property, but there is really no bad...
