“stunning!”
Reviewed 20 October 2009

We had two weeks in Grenada, one at the above and the other in True Blue.

Bel Air comprises of beautiful cottages situated amid tropical foliage and very secluded. We stayed in the most stunning villa, extremely well furnished, very comfortable, the bedroom with en suite, shower and separate bath. The decor has been carefully thought out, with generous room. The air conditioning is fantastic.

A maid came in every day to make the bed, wash up and clean, she made an excellent job of it, and each evening we returned it was spotless.

The front of our villa had a balcony with table and chairs, plenty of room. Fench doors from the living room and bedroom oped onto the balcony.

The restaurant only really opens on the odd few days as it is so quiet. I personally found it rather soulless, and pretty expensive with limited choice for me. What it is like during the high season I am unsure about.

Bel Air does not have a beach, just a landing pier for RIBS, with a sandy area and chairs, not Grand Anse Beach.

The swimming pool is delightful, very warm and clean. The gardens are really stunning, lots of wildlife, we would return early evening and have a swim after sunset. There is lovely views from the pool over St David's Bay.

We did not have a car, so my advice to anyone thinking of staying is to hire one. Whilst Bel Air is lovely, it is not near the tourist hotels and quite isolated, also there are not that many restaurants nearby.

The owner is very pleasant, anything you need is dealt with promptly. We loved our stay here, our Villa was delightful. Whilst we relaxed, there is no spa as such, I believe there is a lady who does massages.
Sadly for us, we only stayed here a week and then went to True Blue, this was going from Upper Class to economy.
A very pleasant week.

Thank you for such a nice review. Glad you enjoyed your stay at Bel Air Plantation and we hope to see you again.

Just to clarify – our restaurant is open every day from October to June. We reduce the opening days in the summer months only.

We stayed at the Bel Air Plantation Cottages in Grenada and fell in love with them. My wife and I stayed in one of their eleven cottages located on a beautiful hillside property. The cottages are all very Caribbean-like in nature with magnifecent views of the ocean and the surrounding peninsulas. The villas each have their own private tropical gardens which only added to paradise-like feeling of it all. We would recommend staying there to anyone who is looking for a romantic and relaxing getaway in Grenada. We booked our vacation through Elysian Holidays at www.elysianholidays.co.uk. We would personally like to thank everyone at Bel Air and Elysian for making this trip everything we had hoped it would be.

On arriving in Grenada we were picked up by a roomy air conditioned taxi which delivered us to the Bel air about 40 mins later . If you want a quiet undisturbed away from it all relaxing holiday then this is the place for you. You could stay here undisturbed if you wish but we hired a jeep for 10 days and travelled around the island to see more or less everything.ALthough only a small island rlatively speaking it takes a long time to travel anywhere as the roads are narrow steep and windy so you feel its a treat if you can move into 3rd gear (not complaining)but any journey around the island will be full of colour sights and sounds and lots of interesting things to see
Our cottage at the bel air was beautifully furnished and had a fantastic double size shower .We self catered and found all we needed in the kitchen area to get by after shopping at the supermarket in the main town. The room was thoroughly tidied and cleaned every day and the staff are very firiendly. The infinity pool is to die for which we had to ourselves most evenings when we came back from a long day out to cool off. Our stay included breakfast which we also had alone most mornings and was always freshly prepared to order and you could have whatever you wanted. The restaurant is covered but oen air and right beside the sea with hummingbirds and bananaquits flitting around right beside you. You can walk and explore the plantation and there is lots of wildlife around. The hotel beach is small and not very clean but is visited by small waders which we could sit and watch for ages as birdwatchers but if you wanted to sit by the sea there is a jetty with a few seats and sunbeds to use and you can get a courtesy bus to the beach next door but we never used this service so I cannot comment on it. All in all we loved bel air and were made very comfortable and welcome during our stay

This is our second stay at Bel Air Plantation Resort. Our first stay was 3 years ago when they organized our beautiful destination wedding. We were extremely happy to return to this property. The owner, Susan, has created and lush and fantastic facility. One that you feel completely at home and comfortable in.

This trip we had a 2 bedroom villa, and our friend who accompanied us had a 1 bedroom villa (actually the same villa we had on our first trip). The villas are tastefully decorated, with great thought given to your comfort and pleasure. The linens and towels are plush; the kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, pots/pans, utensils and serving dishes. There wasn't one item that we needed that we did not have. The bathrooms in the villas are huge and complete with a large spa tub and separate shower. The products they supply (shampoo, conditioner, and soap) are of high quality.

Bel Air has a beautiful infinity edge pool. It is a wonderful spot to relax and cool off. We brought games down to the pool one day and enjoyed a great game of H2O Uno as we sat in the pool. Very fun indeed. If you are looking for a beach, you will want to visit their neighboring beach, La Sagesse. The resort can usually arrange a ride to and from, so it was very simple to get to the beach!

The restaurant, Water's Edge, was very good. You are served high quality food by a consistent staff. They remembered us from our last visit, always a nice touch! The drinks were excellent, and one Sunday afternoon they had live entertainment which was great fun.

As for special touches... Bel Air does aim to please! Susan, the owner, had me send my grocery shopping list and she did my shopping for me. Yes, the villa was stocked with everything I needed (without me having to waste my precious vacation time hitting the supermarket). Another fabulous and very useful touch is providing a cell phone to each guest as they arrive. It is wonderful to have. We used the phone a few times to call for taxis or dinner reservations. Very nice touch!

All in all, another amazing stay at Bel Air Plantation Resort. We will absolutely be back!

We stayed for a week at this lovely resort. Very small and quiet. This is not a resort for anyone with walking difficulties. The walks up to the bungalows and villas are incredibly steep and even fit and able bodied struggled with these hills. The pool area is quite small and could get very crowded. There was no shade around the pool area in the afternoon. On a positive side the bungalows were lovely, very spacious and beautifully furnished. the food freshly prepared and good. All the staff were friendly and helpful. All in all a lovely holiday.

The title says it all for us as we never go back to the same place but Bel Air Planataion keeps calling us back. This is our third visit now and it gets better and better. Staff welcome you as old friends and the laid back environment makes you relax straight away, even afer a long flight. It's all that previous reviews have said beautiful and quiet, stunning colourful gardens, tasteful spacious villas and cottages, good food and views to die for. You cannot help but relax here and it's not for people who like lots of activities or a long sandy beach although there is a small natural beach with crabs, coral and driftwood. on. If you like taking photographs you will not be disappointed with the results especially if you can mange to capture a small Hummingbird on one of the beautiful flowers. We cannot wait to come back again and again.

The Bel Air Plantation is really heavenly, beautiful casitas hidden away on a mountain side, absolutely fantastic pool area, cool evening bar and a great location to explore the more remote parts of the island. It is really near La Sagesse if you need a golden sandy beach. This is a great place to stay, especially if you want to cook some of the local food, as the lodges have quite acceptably equipped kitchens.
