“Great low season get away”
Reviewed 3 November 2013

We planned for a weekend retreat/getaway and looked at various options of location, value and site amenities. A Livingsocial deal arrived in my email box and the info on the Summerland Waterfront Resort looked inviting. Having read other TA reviews, we opted for a 3rd floor, with a partial lakeview . The deal also included a bottle of local red wine, Sumac Ridge. As well, we booked a couples massage at Beyond Wrapture Day Spa.
One thing about this resort is that all the 114 suites are individually owned. And some are in a rental pool but maybe not at the same time? That's why only certain rooms are available. For the first weekend in November, there were a lot of empty suites. I suppose that makes it difficult for the front desk staff to change rooms for clients.
We found the 1 bedroom suite spacious, very clean and comfortable.. A well-equipped kitchen including a dishwasher. Lots of cupboard storage space. The bathroom was a good size too. A deep non-jetted tub, a separate extra large shower and lots of counter space. One annoying thing for my partner was the toilet seat lid. He has to use 1 leg to hold the lid up when he had to pe_ . Was this a plumbing design error? All it needed was to move the toilet forward about 2 inches to avoid this lid problem..
The queen bed has a fairly soft pillow top mattress but was still comfy for us. The pillows are great. An unusual feature is a separate glass sink in the bedroom. It looks great but I guess it's just for little wash-ups? No washcloths or towels are provided beside it. A older style 27" TV perches high

I totally love Summerland, such a cute place. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the resort. Was there for a working retreat and what a great place to come for it. The resort is very pretty, my room was clean and nicely decorated, beds were very comfy. The food we had in our meeting was very yummy. I would like to thank all the staff for their hard work in making it a great stay. Housekeeping you did a pretty good job, found a couple of cobwebs but overall was beautiful, thank you.

Our family of 4 had a one night stop over here on our recent road trip through Canada. This resort was a little haven after a long day of travelling. We had a 2 bedroom suite, with two bathrooms and a full kitchen. It was just wonderful. Very clean, everything we needed and so very comfortable. The weather was rather wet in the afternoon and we took the opportunity to just curl up on the comfy couches in the lounge area in front of the gas fire and relax, looking at the rain sweep over the lake, followed by a beautiful rainbow. The Wi-Fi connection was excellent too. Was excellent value for money!

After being thoroughly disappointed by the lack of good lake front hotels that allowed pets in Kelowna, we decided to head south and see what we could find. Summerland Waterfront Resort was the first place that came up in my search. It was dinnertime, we were tired and hungry and had our large dog with us. I called from the car and was offered a pet friendly room for such a reasonable rate that we assumed there must be something wrong with the place!

We were completely blown away when we pulled up to this hotel. It's absolutely gorgeous... new, contemporary, directly on the lake. Our room was stylish, clean, totally well outfitted including a kitchen and spa bathroom. It was late by the time we settled into our room but we decided to slip in a quick soak in the hot tub. The facilities at the pool were just as impressive.

The next morning we went for a long walk along the lakefront trail that connects right in front of the hotel, and were able to find an off leash dog park area and a gorgeous pier. There's even a small beach directly in front of the hotel for swimming.

I can't rave enough about this hotel. It so exceeded our expectations, we were wishing that we could stay another few days. I would highly recommend staying here over choosing a hotel in Kelowna. It's a very short drive and still close enough that you can use this hotel as a home base to explore the whole area.

We had a wonderful 3 day weekend at Summerland, what a nice surprise the room was. 3 adults in a 2 room Bluff View apartment, full kitchen, 2 bathrooms, dining and lounge room. We had great fun on the jetski up and down the beautiful Okanagan Lake and relaxing on the lakeshore in front of the resort. Restaurant a bit disappointing but plenty of options off site if you want to drive back to town.

We spent 4 nights at the Summerland Waterfront Resort in late August. It was our third stay at this facility, the last one having been in 2012. Despite wanting to love this place, we’re starting to wish there was a viable alternative at this location. It’s an absolutely lovely spot and should have everything going for it that makes it great. It genuinely saddens us that things seem to be on a progressive downhill slide.

Last year we were assigned a Studio Suite which was incredibly cramped with a balcony that was virtually unusable. This year since we were traveling in peak season (full price) and because no (lake view) 1 Bedroom suites were available; we reluctantly booked a Studio Suite again. We were surprise to be assigned a suite with a much better layout and a real balcony.

Our initial enthusiasm was dampened when we took in the condition of the suite. The carpets are worn and badly stained; the couch and chair, not much better. We understand it was a very busy time, but housekeeping was obviously not keeping up. The same lint and dust were in the same place on the carpet on our 4th night as on the 1st.

We are not overly “picky” and at a discounted price would probably be prepared to accept the shortcomings. Regrettably, this will have been our last stay.

Made the reservation several weeks in advance as part of a block of rooms for our group. Since we were 4 individuals sharing, we specifically requested 2 bedrooms/2 baths. On arrival we were given a room with 2 bedrooms but only one bathroom. There were only 2 sets of towels and 1 set of amenities. Other people in our group had 3 people sharing but they were given rooms with 2 bathrooms. Additionally when the reservation was made the wrong rate was applied. This had not been corrected at the time of check in and since it was the weekend the front desk clerk didn't have the password to change it. As well no directions were offered to the room at check in.
This is a beautiful location but the lack of attention to our room requests and experience at check in were disappointing.

Room Tip: Verify the room type you request when you make your reservation is what you get upon arrival. Best r...
