The ex-convent and church are in the center square of the town, and it's an interesting site to start off your day in Tepoztlan. It takes around an hour to walk through, and the old murals on the walls are absolutely stunning. There are also nice views of the town from the upper level of the ex-convent. When I went in May 2014, there was some artwork on display (not sure if it's a permanent exhibit) throughout the ex-convent that didn't seem to fit at all with the rest of the structure. It was interesting modern artwork, sure, but didn't seem to flow well with the rest of the experience. (See in uploaded pictures). Still, if you are genuinely interested in the history here, this is the place to visit.
