“Keeps getting better”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 September 2012

This was our 5th vacation at Villas Famingos, and it continues to get better. The island continues to grow in amenities without changing the charm of a small village. Villas Flamingos has kept its status as a eco-resort while adding hot tubs, second floor lounging areas, and wonderful views to each cabana. Air conditioning was also added, although with the constant sea breeze, not offten needed. The in-house restaurant as expanded their menu, and the dishes are always interesting, flavorful, and presented beautifully. The beach, the water, and the walk to the "point" were as perfect as ever. My best recommendation; We are planning to return in 2013. It doesn't get better than this.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great, but the cabanas are the way to go!

Came to stay here for a few nights in June after a wonderful stay in Cancun. Needed another vacation just to recover from the first!! Lol!!! But we both found it too quiet and a bit on the boring side.... sorry!!! not a thing happening around the hotel or in the hotel except sunbathing.

The stay was really nice and so are the staff, in the end, I was sorry to leave.
Upon arriving I found myself in a valley of smiles from the very first persons I met.
The room was clean and quiet, and the commune area were extremely comfortable with plenty of hammock, chairs, bed etc. You can either enjoy the pool (that has an amazing view on the ocean) or simply go in the ocean a few steps away.

The only thing is that it is a little far from the main area of the island, but you can still get to the action in a 25 minute walk or get a golf cart. Plus, the beaches are amazing in that area so it's totally worth it.

These are the things that made me enjoy my stay at this hotel, but my warmest congratulations to the hotel for their choice of personnel. They know how to really make you feel at home, and if you need anything it is like asking a family member. Congratulations from the heart, you were fantastic.

My husband and I enjoyed this resort in mid July. We were glad to find out that we were automatically upgraded to a bungalow. After reading many reviews, we were surprised to arrive and find out that the toilet in our bungalow did not flush. It was like an outhouse, inside. I did not know that this is what they meant by eco friendly. Surprisingly the smell was not too bad, but it was not a nice experience. We thought that most of the staff was friendly and very accomodating and the food was great, breakfast was ok. The worst part of the island were the bugs after dark, even after bathing in Deep Woods Off, we had to retreat to our bungalow as soon as the sun went down. This was mid July, so maybe it is not a year round problem???? We enjoyed the whale shark tour but only saw two sharks. Glad we went to see the whale sharks, but not a lot to do on this small island besides renting a golf cart and driving around.

This hotel is very hit and miss. It looks good in the photos and has good views but when you are actually there you discover that there is a distinct lack of professionalism and lack of finishing touches. It´s as though someone started redecorating the hotel and then gave up before finishing. The staff are not experienced and kinda set the mood of what you are going to get in the rest of the hotel. Rooms are pretty bare and uninviting and we found that the area around the pool was not very clean. The views do impress but we were paying for a whole experience, including a quality hotel to relax in and sadly we did not get that.

This hotel has nice location - away from it all. Views are breathtaking, the pool is nice to cool off in.

For breakfast, you can order anything from the menu, which included omlettes, pancakes etc. The server at the restraurant is so nice and polite every time. Their coffee is better compared to some other places (by Mexican standards). Views are amazing while having breakfast. We had limited food for other meals at the restaurant but it was good.

We stayed in a room in their oceanfrot green color house building. We had nice sea views from the room. The front lanai is nicely outfitted with hammock, etc. The room and bath are adequate, rustic, basic and clean. Beds ever very comfy and linen good quality. Don't come here expecting luxury though. I kinda agree with other reviewers that this place has so much potential, if the owners spend some $$ to make the rooms and especially bathrooms more luxurious. Ivan is very nice and tended to all the requests immediately. All the staff at the hotel were kind, nice and responsive.

We didn't mind the location away from town, it made for some very nice beach walks, which is only 15 minutes and taxi rides back.

We used the provided kayaks couple of times and my 8 year old son had a great time kayaking.

All in all we had a great vacation on Holbox at this hotel. I think this hotel is a great value for what you pay.

We were very excited about our vacation to the paradise island of Holbox. We chose this hotel hoping it would fulfil our dreams of a chilled out week in great surroundings but it was not near as good as we were expecting.Yes, the views were amazing and the bungalows a nice idea, but when you are charging the prices we paid you need to deliver a very good product and good service all the time. The room we had was nice, but very simple and lacking in character and style and void of those little touches that make a hotel comfortable and memorable. I could´t help but wonder how good the rooms could be with a little imagination and money spent on them. The worst thing for me was the location. Having to treck for 15 minutes just to get to the edge of town was not what a dream vacation is made of. They have tried to make this hotel nice but have definitely missed the goal as far as I´m concerned and I now know there are much better places to stay in Holbox.
