I loved this place! This is the place to be if you want to relax. The staff was really helpfull and friendly, the room was large and clean. I recommend to stay at the second floor. It is 10 minutes to walk in to the "main street" where you can find restaurants and a few shops.

Room Tip: In the second floor, sea view and less mosquitoes.

I am a seasoned traveler, having spent time on most of the world's continents. I have never, anywhere in the world, stayed somewhere as lovely as Casa Takywara. We stayed in the Sol penthouse, and felt we had the whole island to ourselves, for the most part. The kitchen has literally everything you need to feel at home, from a blender to lime press. The views were spectacular. The beach is all natural, very private. I had some reservations about traveling as a gay couple, as I have had some difficult experiences traveling in the past. The staff made us feel perfectly welcome and comfortable, as any other traveling couple.

We let them know ahead of time that we are both gluten-free, and they provided us with extra fresh fruit in the mornings. We ordered cocktails made with fresh fruit which they delivered to our room. In every way, the staff were accommodating and discreet.

This is the perfect place for a romantic getaway. I highly recommend renting bikes in town for the duration of your stay, as it makes the 10 minute walk to town center a short, 3 minute ride. For our purposes, being away from town was amazing. This place is QUIET.

I sort of hesitate writing a positive review, as I don't want Casa Takywara, or Holbox in general to become overrun. So much of the charm, is feeling so far away from the Riviera Maya. We made a promise to ourselves to return every year!

We stayed over a week in Casa Takywara. It is a nice place 10 minutes walk from the Pueblo. We stayed on the first floor and did not have any ocean view. We felt It was an in between an hotel and an apartement rental. However sadly we felt It was not the best part of both worlds. Overall we did not find the staff very involved or caring. Actually, one night, there was no electricity (It happens In Holbox) and no water and there was no one from the staff to check on the hosts. There was no candles left and the Emergency phone did not work. Net, you are on your own. The one time we also mentioned that we did not have hot water for the past few days, we felt we were annoying the staff ! Breakfast are very disappointing (fruits In a Tupperware with cheap bread) that you have to eat In your room as there is nowhere else to eat It. While Casa Takywara presents itself as a eco friendly hotel, we did not feel the house was well constructed. In our room, you absolutely needed air conditioning during the nights and the terrasse in front is also missing air during the day. So, Casa Takywara would be best to be a bit less pretentious in an Island where It is about eco turism (It is our fourth time on this Island) and to be a bit cheaper considering the lack of service

Dear friends
Thank you very much foy your comments.
It is very sad for us when we fail to satisfy our guests and they have to spend your vacation time to leave your impressions on Tripadvisor.
We are already working on each of your appraisals, and we begin in a better presentation of our breakfasts, which unfortunately during your stay were affected by the closure of the French bakery due to electricity problems presented on the island, which in turn sparked consequences in the hotel, we have already clarified directly with you.
Takywara House is a small hotel with no restaurant and the continental breakfast that we fondly leave in each room can be enjoyed at the beach tables, in the "palapitas" at the garden, on the terrace of your room or just in the privacy of your room. .
Our philosophy is that the scenario of a restaurant is not necessary to make it enjoyable first meal of the day with our loved ones.
About your pictures, in my humble opinion Casa Takywara is much more than that.
We hope you decide to visit us in another ocassion.
Best Regards from us.

We stayed recently and had a really lively time, I'm not sure we could have found a better place to stay for 18 days. The staff are all lovely and the house is awesome, only the weather let us down in June but apparently that's pretty normal. I would defiantly reccomend Takywara over one of the bigger hotels especially as a couple, for a good quiet location and for people looking to get away rather than party away.

Our amazing customer service started before we even landed in Mexico. Marcella was fantastic at communicating with us about our reservations. Upon arrival, we were shown to our room, which was simple but tastefully decorated and very large for our needs. The full kitchenette allowed us to cook simple meals to add to our eating experience on the island.

We traveled with two adults and two children (ages 10 and 8) and the room provided everything we needed. We were able to source cold Fantas and beers from Marcella when we checked in, then took advantage of the large mini-fridge for the rest of our stay. Shopping "in town" allows for decent pricing for your own stash of drinks and snacks, but there is a cooler in the room that Marcella will fill with ice for an afternoon on the beach.

Our breakfast was delivered each morning in a delightful "knapsack" and filled with warm bread, butter, jam and assorted fresh fruits.

As I type this review, I am sitting on the veranda (shared with one other room, but never feeling cramped or intrusive) listening to the evening sounds of the seashells hung around the ceiling swaying in the ever present breeze and being serenaded by the nightlife. This stay was peaceful, serene and enjoyable. Even though Casa Takywara was fully booked during our weekend stay (three nights), it almost always felt as though we were the only guests.

The grounds are arranged such that guests can meander around the garden area, read in the screened porch, or sit at one of the many hideaways created for our use.

The beach is just a few steps from the penthouse, Agua and Aire rooms and the Beach Bungalow sits literally ON the beach. There is ample seating on the beach for all Casa Takywara guests and we felt as though the beach had been reserved just for us.

The restaurants in town will deliver food to your room or beachfront, which is a huge benefit if you choose not to rent a golf cart (which can be expensive at $85 USD per 24 hour period). The town is a short and enjoyable 15 minute walk from Casa Takywara and just the perfect distance to get your appetite going and to burn off calories after your dinner! (The main strip of hotels on Holbox is actually farther from downtown Holbox than Casa Takywara is, yet Takywara feels MUCH more remote and exclusive!)

The simplicity of Casa Takywara is subtle, in that everything seems casually placed and situated, however, you know every little detail has been appointed to and cared for by the staff (Marcella, Bertha and the groundskeepers, etc.) but never with an air of anything but utmost attention to the guests. The grounds are unique (stumps turned into planters that have been seated on seashells, hanging baskets of foilage, delightful mobiles fashioned from driftwood and seashells, etc.)

We would love to come back to Holbox and if so, we will definitely stay at Casa Takywara.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Agua room and while it was perfectly fine, you should know that for new guests to a...

Casa Takywara was great. Very clean, friendly and QUIET (which for us, was key). It is a very short walk to the town/restaurants/bars/grocery store, the kitchen was very well suited for cooking. We had trouble making our own ice, but the staff was happy to fill our cooler (which they provide for cold ones on the beach). Would definitely go back.

Room Tip: The penthouse is WELL worth the extra money. We didn't run into the no-see-um bugs that are ofte...
