This cute little shop (closed on Mondays) is a delight to visit. Once you've seen the pyramids and convent in Izamal, there's not a whole lot else to see, but this makes a wonderful exit spot. It has crafts from all over Mexico, and while not a huge selection, there are little gems hidden in various corners. The woman working there spoke no English, but she was so sweet and helpful. Whenever she'd see us expressing interest in something, she'd go dig up a similar item from some hidden recess. Plan to spend some time there because just when you think you're done, you'll find something else to capture your attention.

“Hecho a Mano is great!”

This store has a wonderful selection of authentic and reasonably priced Mexican craft, clothing, and collectibles. Much of what you see as you travel thru Mexico can be a little "touristy" but this store is the real thing. The owner has lived in Mexico for decades and she knows her stuff. You'll get personal attention, as much info as you want, and good prices.

I bought a beautiful embroidered blouse from Oaxaca and a carved jaguar---carved by a local artist.

Don't miss this place. Izamal is a cool place to go and this place makes it even better. (Note, it's not easy to spot from the plaza. Look for the hotel, and the entrance is just inside the little arcade entrance.
