good variety of local handcrafts , but more expensive than the artesan market in front of the convent.
There is a cafe in the courtyard but does not look like they want to give you service or do have somethuing in stock

Small but lovely exhibit. Top quality Mexican crafts in a small town setting., a great value for just a few pesos. This center supports local art and artists and well as providing exposure to wonderful art from around Mexico.

This is more like a gallery of modern Mexican arts and crafts than a museum. High quality examples of work from all over Mexico...colorful, creative and whimsical. Don't miss the two life-sized figures of the skeleton baker on his bicycle -- on one, the devil is along for the ride and on the other, his girlfriend. For such a small town, this collection -- paid for and curated by Banamex --should not be missed if you're in Izamal. Several rooms of artfully displayed work and a photographic exhibit that explains the Yucantan peninsula's henequin hacienda history -- an hour well spent for just 25 pesos. The modern open courtyard in back (at the foot of one of Izamal's five pyramids) serves as a cafe. We had excellent cappuccinos there.

small but intersting place. Make shure you get here the yellow maps with artists to visit all over Izamal!
We went to Esteban the artist who owns a little shop 'la flor de cocoyol' (you can find this one facebook). He makes beautiful jeweleries. But the man itself is already interesting. He told us proudly about Mayan people and his work! A must do in Izamal.

A well done center so that visitors can get a good idea of the art that surrounds Izamal, and what you would like to go and visit. The workers are very helpful, they will not try to sell you anything, but will be glad to explain the art, it's meaning and traditions. If you are interested in visiting one of the local factories or shops, they have maps to guide you. It is centrally located and I suggest you take the 15 minuets to visit, see and plan your visits to those places that caught your eye.
