We arrived at the Tuki Llajta without reservations and were nearly discouraged by the imposing front gate and it's inoperative intercom. Fortunately we had a cellular and called the number posted on the door and a security man was dispatched down the 1km 4x4 road to let us in. Happily, rooms were available, and we booked two, each distinct and with its own personality. Both rooms were warm, with firewood provided and the fire pre-lit. It was wonderful to enjoy the view of the stars at night and the Rio Mantaro Valley far below in the morning. It was a welcome escape from the noise and congestion of Huancayo to be high above the valley in such a quiet, calm and beautiful spot.
The restaurant offers a particularly stunning view, and the food is delicious, although the service is somewhat slow. In general, hotel staff were friendly and efficient. The WiFi did work, though only in the lobby.
The hotel is quite far from the city center, way on the outskirts of town, towards the Carretera Central, so unless you have your own transportation, staying there might prove impractical.
Nonetheless, this is a great Andean resort and a perfect place to relax.
