Overall Hunter Hideaway Cottages are comfortable and are well equipped but are fairly basic in terms of quality of presentation.
As far as Hunter Valley accommodation goes, the cottages are reasonably priced at $460 for 4 people for 2 weekend nights.
There are three 2 bedroom cottages, each of which seem to sleep about 6 people and which are about 100m apart, meaning you get privacy but that it's close enough if you have a group staying in different cottages.
The cottages have full kitchens as well as gas fired BBQs just outside the door. They have reverse cycle air conditioning as well as gas fireplaces.
Probably the biggest downside is the location of the cottages. They are about a 20 min drive from the Broke Road (where a lot of the big wineries are located) and about another 10 min into Cessnock (which is the best place for picking up supplies). It's about 10 min into the towns of Branxton and Greta but these are very small and very basic (eg you can't get groceries after 6pm and there is nowhere to get a decent breakfast).
