This was my second stay at Chateu Elan but first as a family, with my husband and 9 month old baby. We stayed in the one bedroom villa and were very impressed with the facilities available - the room was like new. They had even put out a teddy bear in the cot for our son to keep, with a little note - what a sweet touch! - as well as a lovely fruit platter for us. We had a great view of the golf course and the perfect lawn was brilliant for our son to crawl around on. The rooms were practically babyproof yet anyone staying without kids would not even think that they were set up for families, they just look sleek and modern and clean.

The staff were fantastic and really took care of us as a family. When our son unfortunately spewed on the bed they were there within minutes with fresh linen and a smile despite it being 8.30 at night. They were also happy to give us a late noon checkout even though our villa had new folks coming in that afternoon. That's the kind of service that really impresses!

As we had bub with us we didn't play golf this time but the course looked fabulous and we will organise babysitting next time so we can play! The pool is absolutely lovely, we really enjoyed an evening swim and sit in the oversized spa, it was gorgeously warm despite the chilly weather. Our bub also enjoyed clambering around the play equipment, which would equally be fun for bigger kids as well.

I was lucky enough to have an hour and a half in the spa and it was even better than last time. The vichy shower treatment was among the best I've ever had - pure heaven! The spa staff were lovely and skilled in their work and the atmosphere was so relaxing, exactly what I needed.

The food in the restaurant is fine, solid menu and quite a good wine list. It's not really gourmet fare but it's reasonably priced and again the staff were super friendly and really accommodated us with our baby. The restaurant is lovely in the morning for breakfast with the sun pouring in and the brekky buffet is varied and of good quality.

We will definitely be coming back to Chateu Elan. Well done indeed!

Room Tip: Villas are worth the extra money, they're really very good.

On the spur of the moment we decided to spend one night in the Hunter Valley. Checked availability and found Chateau Elan and booked a one bedroom villa. On arrival we checked out the villa and went straight back to reception and booked an extra night! The villas are in blocks and we had a corner villa with a verandah wrapping two sides and looking out over the peaceful golf course and lake. The villa itself is modern with a wonderful king size bed and large shower, then there is a living room and dining room separated by a gas fire and both opening onto the deck. The kitchen is adequate but with all the wonderful restaurants in the area it is probably only going to be used for breakfast.

From the moment we checked in we found the young staff to be SO helpful, full of smiles and nothing too much trouble. I had a problem with the wifi and called reception and she was at the villa in a couple of minutes to sort it out - with a smile! The resort is on a golf course and so there is a bar with a fire and a very good steak restaurant - again Linda at the bar was most helpful with choosing a local wine and we enjoyed our meal. I would definitely recommend staying at Chateau Elan and we will be back!

Room Tip: ask for a villa room upstairs and on a corner we had Villa 9 room 188.

Recently stayed at Chateau Elan for our sons wedding, Anzac Day. This is a beautiful place to stay, we stayed in Spa Villa and the staff and amenities were excellent.

The wedding went off without a hitch, food was very nice, venue was superb. Our main concerns were, it was a minimum 2 night stay venue, and whilst on any other weekend this wouldn't be a problem but attending our sons wedding meant we were staying another night without my son and his new wife being there, (the bride and her bridesmaids stayed the previous night and the bride and groom staying the night of the wedding, again meeting the 2 night stay), this meant driving back and forth from his house so that we may see them before they left for their honeymoon. It is a pity they can not accommodate one night stays and early check ins for those attending a weddings at their venue.

Early check in is not policy - even for Weddings held at the venue. (The bride had her room to get dressed in, and the groom was reliant upon us to have somewhere to get dressed). Again I state, the staff and amenities were fantastic and we were eventually allowed to check in early which enabled us, the groom and the groomsmen a place to dress before the wedding at 3.30pm. Some guests traveling from a great distance were unable to check in before 2pm which was cutting it fine for getting ready and attending the wedding. (Maybe they should consider cleaning all the rooms booked for such an event first so as to allow early check-in, (checkout is 11am, check in is 2pm), then proceed with normal cleaning for other rooms.)

The porters and staff driving the buggies (it is quite a distance to walk around the amenities) had a great sense of humour and added to our stay,

We had breakfast for both the mornings which was really enjoyable, with a large variety to choose from.

Would love to stay again this time without a wedding being involved.

Having only one night to spend away from the little ones, it was somewhat difficult to find accommodation that would accept a one night stay in the Hunter Valley. After great reviews on Trip Advisor we decided to give Chateau Elan a chance and we were greeted by the most helpful staff member over the telephone, soon after the booking was made.

The photos on the website do not do it justice, the rooms are well designed and in our case, the King Spa, was perfect for the two of us. The room itself is stocked with a mini bar and tea/coffee making facilities. It did lack cheese plates and glasses (although had some wine glasses) and this wasn't unexpected.

A quick phone call to reception and our requests were met, extremely fast too.

The customer service is the best I have ever experience in any accommodation I have stayed in, certainly not limited to the Valley.

We will certainly be back. Thanks Chateau Elan for making our stay pleasant, well done.

We booked over the Anzac long weekend. Fantastic accomodation, extremely clean, comfortable, beds were amazing and loved the spa bath in ensuite. We stayed in a one bedroom villa and the gas feature fireplace in the lounge room was so beautiful and a great way to finish off the afternoon with a nice bottle of red by the fire, I would stay again for sure !!! Only thing I would say is breakfast did not really live up to the excellent standard of this hotel, go somewhere else for breakfast. Dinner on the other hand was excellent !!!

Room Tip: Pay a little more and get a one bed villa, we did and I was so glad that we did !!!

It's such a pleasure to check in to a room that's not grotty and worn! This was our 3rd visit - the previous ones in 2012 and 2013 - and the chateau has been around longer than that...but the rooms are still very clean and in great condition.

We stayed in an upper floor spa villa - the view from the balcony across the golf course stretches for miles and the sunsets were magical. Kangaroos were everywhere as usual. Admittedly, the walls are a bit thin - and everyone in our villa block was privy to a very loud phone conversation between mother and daughter on one occasion. Thankfully, we only had to put up with these inconsiderate people for one night - and the rest of our stay was peaceful.

The kitchenette is well equipped - but I like to bring my own non-stick fry pan for breakfast cooking; and be aware that they don't provide a toaster due to expensive fire alarm activation by guests in the past. Other hotels we've encountered with this problem simply install a notice on the kitchen wall advising guests they will be charged $750 if they activate the fire alarm.

If you don't feel like cooking, the Vintage Club Grill provides meals - we don't bother with breakfast here anymore as it disappointed on our last 2 visits. Dinners however are very good - especially if you enjoy a good steak. Just don't expect great service as it's very 'hit and miss'.

We'll be back and recommend this hotel as clean and well located near the wineries. He says the golf is great too.

Room Tip: The 2nd floor spa villas provide a great view across the golf course and beyond and have a well equi...
