“Excellent value, low budget motel.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 January 2013

Excellent value, low budget motel.

Clean faclities all round. Attentive staff.

Very tidy grounds, beautiful clean swimming pool and clean communal spa pool. Lovely peaceful location looking out to Waikato countryside.

The motel staff recommended the Otorohanga Working Men's club for dinner, and that was delicious and great value.

Would thoroughly recommend. A great place to stay, when visiting Waitomo caves (15km away)

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 December 2012

We stayed for 2 nights in a fully self-contained unit, 1 bedroom with closet space, bathroom had 3 separate spaces, 1 with a sink/mirror, 1 toilet and a third room with a shower, very handy! The kitchen was small but we were still able to cook a proper dinner. The living room space had 2 extra beds, a sofa and a dining table with 4 chairs, it was small but not cramped and we felt very comfortable! All windows opened which was fortunate as it was very hot and humid while we visited. We had a large fan next to the bed, which is good because of course no aircon (I think we haven't seen aircon anywhere in NZ!!!).
Hosts Willem and his wife were very friendly and were happy to share tips about the region. We were able to use the laundry and dryer. We walked across the road to the main building and used the outdoor pool and the indoor spa.
The grounds are beautiful and very well kept, as are the motel units. Decor is a bit dated but everything is extremely clean and the bed was very comfortable!
The motel is a short dive away from the town, which has a McDonalds, lots of coffee- and lunch places, few restaurants, souvenir shops, banks, a pharmacy and a large Countdown supermarket. Just a minute's walk up the road from the motel is a small convenience store.
Definitely recommended!

Very neat, tidy, and clean. The owner even gave us a half liter of fresh milk at check in. Surprisingly Eco conscious with tea, coffee, and cookies in plastic containers. Nice views and grounds were tidy and well kept. A little close to the road for traffic noise but most other hotels in the area are also on the main road.

We were very fortunate to stay at this wonderful Motel. The owner Willem was so friendly and very knowledable about the town and surrounds. We got to stay in one of the older two bedroom units which was self contained and was clean and extrememly comfortable. It was great that not only did they have a wall heater but unit also had two extra heaters for our comfort. The view from our back balcony was stunning and the cows and sheep next door added to the charm of the place. The Spa pool was lovely and our children enjoyed the trampoline and swings. The township was stone throws away for getting takeaway or groceries and the Glowworm caves at Waitomo were a short drive down the road. I didn't want to leave as it felt like home. I will definately stay there again if I am in the area.

A nice enough place to stay.
We stayed as a family in a two bedroom unit which was nice and clean, well looked after and had everything you could need.
Not 5-star by any means, but certainly comfortable and ideally located to see the Waitomo caves and Kiwi house

We were up for the Feilddays and to catch up on family. Had a two bedroom unit that was basic but clean and tidy. Enjoyed having our brekky out on the landing in the sun.
Would stay again.

Friendly owner. Functional and clean rooms. We stayed in the two bedroom version. Swimming pool and trampoline enjoyed by our children. Near to Waitomo caves and Kiwi House-this is well worth a visit in the town itself. Countdown supermarket 5 minutes drive away in the town if you want to self cater. Would stay here again
