Overall the Hotel facilities looked great (we didn't stay) and the staff at reception were excellent - unfortunately the food in the restaurant was terrible.
We both had the most expensive meal (Fillet steak, peppercorn sauce, Medium R)) and we got a tough, grey looking piece's of protein swimming in a pool of unidentifiable goop - not a peppercorn in sight. The chips were cold and the salad was barely there. When we complained the waitress just shrugged and cleared our table.
But as I mentioned the reception staff were excellent - they helped us with much excellent local advice and even went out and sourced us a Wifi card. Brilliant they were.

Clean modern rooms up to U.S. standards with efficient quiet AC, beautiful bathroom, flat screen TV, nice pool. The staff was very helpfull, restaurant good but a little slow especially at breakfast.

Location is a short walk to the outdoor market. Much better than the Driftwood were we also stayed.

Pleasant motel style accommodation, with large, but fairly basic, rooms. Convenient base to see Alotau and there aren't many alternatives. Best feature is the leafy outdoor garden area with serene views of Milne Bay. A nice place for an ice cold beer on a hot day. Friendly, hospitable service. Restaurant is okay, if a little hot inside all day long. Fish is the best thing on the menu, but the big surprise was they also serve quite a good pizza! Good transfer service to and from the airport for guests. Both the markets and most recent Battle of Milne Bay Memorial are within 100 m. Hotel can connect you with tours of the locality, with enthusiastic local guides. Noisy old-style room air-conditioner was a downside. A short but agreeable stay in an unspoilt location.

I have visited Alotau several times on business and this time required to stay for a couple of days.
The service was excellent, the accommadation very comfortable and above all quiet.
The locals as usual are very friendly and the staff provided excellent service.
The food was good and sitting in the gardens at night is to die for with vieuws over the bay and star lit sky with a glass of red.
No security issues in Alotau as in almost all of PNG, despite what is in the media!

Recommend, absolutely!

Stayed a week in July. A very pleasant hotel, well located by the water in an amiable little town.

Alotau is at the south east tip of PNG, and although its the dry season, dry is relative. It rained every day we stayed there, although generally brief and light rain. This means that Alotau is a very green and pleasant place. The town is about 15 km from the airport, along a very poorly maintained road, if staying here suggest you ensure that the hotel picks you up from your plane. The great thing about Alotau is that it is free of most of the security issues you have in many other places like Port Moresby and Lae, and you can walk around in day time, its is about a 10 minute walk down to the centre of town.

The hotel has a resort feel and is set out in a number of separate blocks, with a central reception and indoor/outdoor restaurant and bar. My upstairs room was comfortable and had a pleasant verandah and a great view over Milne Bay. There is a good wifi connection available in the rooms and public areas. The rooms aren't opulent, but as PNG rooms go they are very clean and comfortable. Staff in PNG places ae always extremely friendly and obliging, but here they were generally very competent at their jobs also.

Restaurant meals were satisfactory, although we found better fare at Driftwood Resort, which is between the airport and Alotau. There was a cappucino machine but it was broken for much of our stay, and the coffee was often not well made when the machine was working.

the local nightlife place is called the jetty and it is a couple of minutes walk away and a pleasant place to have a drink by the water. Although the hotel was also very pleasant for the same reason!
