“Home of the "Lyngen mode" ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 March 2014 via mobile

We were a group of 12 friends and colleagues taking the trip up to the majestic Lyngen Alps for three days of skiing with Mikael at Lyngen Guide.

We stayed at Magic Mountain Lodge from thursday to sunday. And it's safe to say "It's not a bloody hotel." It's so much better.

A relaxed and friendly atmosphere is the perfect base camp for our ski trips.

What really blew me away was the quality of the food. The dinners we were served was excellent. Far exceeding any expectations we've had.

If anyting could lift the food section a notch, it would be introducing e.g. scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast...

A great stay. We will be back.

We stayed here for two nights and unfortunately, we didn't see the northern lights. We weren't so lucky that's why we're planning to go back again next winter.

Anyway, the room is spacious and beds are comfortable. Patrik and Henrika will make you feel at home. We took the dinner and we didn't regret it at all. For Norway, the food was cheap and very good. But if you wanna cook yourself which they allow, there's a grocery nearby. Just remember that it's closed on Sundays.

The view from the room was really beautiful. Waking up to the rising sun, a gorgeous fjord and beautiful lyngen alps.

We hiked up the nearest mountain cabin and it's better if you have proper shoes. I ended up sliding down on some areas.

We stayed 5 nights in the lodge. Henrika was really helpful and responsive to our enquiries. She was a really great cook too though with more people she could do up more elaborate dinners. Breakfast is 75Kr and dinner 180Kr which is very reasonable considering the prices in Norway. You also have the option to cook your own dinner in the shared kitchen and Rema 1000 supermarket is about 15mins walk away.

Every room overlooks the Fjord so no worries but the view from the balcony is still THE best! Our room was big enough and was pretty comfortable throughout our stay though we have to make our own beds and do some daily cleaning.

On our last night where the weather cleared up we saw the northern lights dancing together with millions of stars from the lodge. I guess it's really about luck that we managed to catch the lights (weather plays an very important part) before we left. Hendrika came running to tell us while we were waiting for our guide to come take us to the lights tour.

After all the dog sledding and snow mobiling, you may want to take it slow by doing a short walk to the Skihytta think the right translation is Ski Hut (2 hours return). We got a ride from Hendrika who was dropping her girl off at the kindergarden to the start point. Some parts may be a little steep so do remember to have the right gear I.e. Good pair of boots with u. We had to slide down some portions when coming down. The view at the cabin was really amazing given a clear weather. You can see the village of Lyngseidet and the Fjord.

Thank you Hendrika!

Lyngen is a place that offers you some incredible experience such as the northern lights during the night, and some fun during the day as go skiing, dog sleeding and so on...

For this purpose, we will really enjoy to take a rest in this really quiet and cozy place with good food. It has also an amazing view to the mountains. Most of the tours can pick you up in the hotel, so that you can sleep a little bit more than the others! My group has chosen to go from tromso during the night using a rented car, so that we could chase the lights by ourselves being able to stop whenever we want..totally worth it!!!

The bad point is the night life...simply zero!!! haha

if you dont have that much time, two nights are more than enough to chase the lights and make have some fun during the day...

If you want to see the Northern lights with extreme backdrop, there is no better place than this!! My advice is don't stay in Tromso and spend ex amount of money for the trips with tour guides when you can do it yourself!! Rent a car and head towards magic mountain lodge and you won't be disappointed!!
Our plain arrived late in Tromso, so we were there late, yet we had big smiles and dinner still waiting for us. Food quality is amazing!!

- Large clean rooms
- Very friendly atmosphere
- Family run business
- Perfect location for northern lights!!
- Lovely Bar and Lounge
- Over all cleanness of Lodge 100%

I would highly recommend Magic Mountain Lodge. The staff go above and beyond to ensure your stay is truly magical. While booking and researching about the area, Henrika was always quick to respond. We were welcomed by Erik and Patrik, they were very attentive, helpful and friendly. We were given advice on where to go to chase the Northern Lights and Erik even lent us his own headlamp to help us walking around the area. Yes, we have seen it!! Patrick is an amazing cook. We can say the dinner he cooked for us was the best we ate while we travelled around Northern Norway. The room is spacious with a beautiful view of the mountains. They make you feel like home!!
