We rented this house last year with a group of friends. Everyone had a nice view from there room. Kitchen is well equipped, we enjoyed cooking together when not visiting all the nice restaurants in the area. We enjoyed having breakfast with the doors open to make full use of the view. There is parking for 2 cars inside the garage and 2 more outside.
A Bryant time. Easy access to Cape Town, lovely views and nice cosy house. Eating b'fast with open doors, fresh sea air and a stunning view, nothing better....thank you soo much for a accommodation where one can feel almost as good as in your own home.
We had 10 days here as part of a month-long holiday in South Africa, choosing Fish Hoek as a base to see Cape Town and hiring a car. Before we arrived I was unsure about our choice as most tourists seem to prefer the Western coast (Hout Bay, Bantry Bay and Camp Bay etc) or the waterfront area. However, we were so delighted as these other places seemed overdeveloped and crowded to us in October that Fish Hoek was a more natural and relaxed alternative in a picturesque setting. Near Boulders Beach and Cape Point, we could easily arrive at opening before the tourist hoards arrived (believe me you’ll want to leave when all those buses turn up!)
The house itself was awesome, large, clean and comfortable, with off-street parking. Highlights were the view (we saw a Southern Right whale and her calf a few metres from shore below the house) and outside pool area. It was just warm enough for my kids to swim as I cooked on the braai (BBQ), which was well sheltered from the wind; the pool would be very lovely in summer. The five of us slept in 3 bedrooms downstairs so there was a master bedroom upstairs and possibly another that was locked, which we didn’t use; three bathrooms and four toilets. The upstairs living area and kitchen were very spacious with everything you need and the house manager responsive and most helpful; check-in/out was smooth.
Scratch Patch for the kids was a very short drive away (excellent souvenirs here too) and, while Fish Hoek has a supermarket, we did most of our shopping at the large complex in Sunny Valley, a 10-min drive from the house. We recommend driving into Cape Town on Chapman’s Peak Drive for more amazing views instead of the M3, especially in peak hour. If visiting in whale season, I’d also suggest breaking up your stay and spending a night in De Kelders to see so many whales close to shore, but having Fish Hoek and this home in particular as a base to see Cape Town, we thoroughly recommend.
Overall we enjoyed our stay but there were a couple of things that should be mentioned to hopefully prevent similar incidents in the future.
We had an unfortunate crime incident the day before we left. My mother and stepfather were alone at home when a man requested access to the property suggesting he was part of the garden service team.
Two days prior to that some workers had scaled the perimeter walls to perform maintenance work on the Jojo tank and pool so they thought a garden service (unannounced) was quite feasible. When inside the property the robber distracted them, and then stole their wallets before making his getaway.
Ideally, the letting agent should have made us aware of any scheduled maintenance (if any) that was to be taking place during the week - this incident would then probably have been avoided as they would've been more suspicious of unscheduled maintenance and called the agent first for confirmation.
In the past, we've always been advised of scheduled work at the other rentals we've used in Hout Bay and Hermanus.
In addition to this we had issues with the alarm. The instructions the letting agent provided were adequate to arm the alarm when we left the property however the alarm kept going off at night and after the second night we just couldn't activate it whilst in the house which was unfortunate.
We also had a minor issue with the kettle which the letting agent swiftly resolved.
Apart from the robbery we spent an enjoyable week at Echo Bayviews.
What an amazing place to stay. The view is breathtakingly beautiful. The house has everything you could need and is situated close to town. There is plenty of space for everyone. It was the perfect place for us all to unwind and relax. Truly an amazing place to stay and we would definitely stay there again.
This property is perfect for a family stay with children the view is its selling point but the house is up to high standards too it has fully equipped kitchen functional bbq nice size bedrooms open plan lounge /dining area proper garage and utility room and a adequate splash pool which its perfect for a cooling dip on a hot day. You need a car to fully appreciate the surrounding area. Good point if you have kids or you like watching TV sports is that there is full satellite TV service unlike a 5*wine longe we stayed after (you don't go to SA to watch TV but kids will appreciate it) weak point is the luck of lining on the curtains and you are awaken early in bright sunlight. Also no romantic sundowner as the property is East facing. Overall we had a fantastic stay.
Our family of 4 adults and 2 children ( 4 and 6) visited this amazing house from 16/01/2017 to 21/01/2017. We had a really pleasant, comfortable and fun stay. The kids and their father had a whale of a time in the pool even though it was cold. The view is magnificent and the close proximity to the Cape Town tourist spots makes it an ideal place to stay. We will be back someday soon.
