Whether you are just wanting to retreat from city life, or planning a family holiday, Montagu Springs Resort will cater to your needs. We stayed in a Plettenberg during the Route62 Harley Davidson Rally hosted by the Free Chapter Cape Town. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and convenient. Reception staff was friendly and efficient, making our stay here most enjoyable.

Beds are in a very bad state with a conk in the middle and this was the case for each of our beds and we rented three chalets, so can safely say that it was not a 'once off'. Stayed there in September 2013 and quite frankly neither my parents or I would stay there again. The spring was lovely and warm and that was abuot the only good thing aside from the scenery. Will spend our money elsewhere next time. Rather sad as I had good childhood memories of the resort which are now spoilt by the recent trip there.

Room Tip: Rather stay at the Avalon Springs Hotel which is adjacent to the resort and has the same owners, muc...

We have just spent two nights at Montagu Springs and found it to be absolutely beautiful. The scenery is unrivalled and the chalet (Golden Terraces) was spotless and comfortable. Staff, wherever we came across them, were friendly and helpful. DSTV is provided, as well as aircon should you wish it. Thank you all for a super stay!

The Resort was easy to find and the drive there was splendid.
Check-in was quick and friendly. The security at the entrance at the resort is adequite but he was unable to find our name on his arrivals list...
I booked one of seven private The Villas. And I must say I was glad that I opted for the bit more expensive option. The Villas are situated very close to the Mountain, giving you a fantastic view of the Resort and surroundings. The Villa was fully catered which was awesome! Private parking right by the Villa. The Villa is very open plan and very pleasant. The fully equiped kitchen is great and very modern in design. A nice round dining table next to the kitchen counter and the MOST confortable couches by the flat screen TV. The main bedroom has a en-suite and the second bathroom has the other bathroom. Everything was neat and clean and Housekeeping are quick and efficient. They move like spies and quickly clean when your at Avalons waterslide (super Tube). I will definitely go back again. But would like to experience the Mountain Chalets that sit high against the Mountain.

Room Tip: ONLY book the Villas or Mountain chalets, I stayed in Villa 306

We booked into a large plettenbergs. It was disgusting. Dirty, stank of smoke, very dingy. Everything old and dilapidated. We were disgusted to even stay there. They are so expensive. Just like a trailer park. We will never return to montagu springs!

I've been to Montagu Springs many times in my life and I cant recall one time hating the experience. It's not excellent but its not a 5 star luxury resort so it would be silly to expect that. It does however provide you with what you need in a family resort.

Over two consecutive stays we chose the small Plettenberg's and I was happy to see that it has been upgraded a bit. New flooring and other finishes. The built-in furniture, bathroom and kitchen could possibly be replaced though.

The hot pool (which is not free) is very nice. What I hate about it, and its not really the resort's fault is the unruly and unsupervised kids. It does put a damper on your stay and you cant possibly set other people's kids straight. So maybe some pool supervision would be nice. However, annoying kids may not be that much of an issue during week days and off-peak season and I'm saying this as a parent and not as a child-less person so I'm not hating on kids at all. It's just hard to relax with noisy, wild, undisciplined kids in the pool.

There's a reason we return every other year, its not because it's cheap because the rates are average, we return because our daughter loves it and its great any time of the year.

Looking for a nice European style spa resort? Well, don't waste your time and money coming here! The place is a low class dump, second only to the adjacent Avalon Springs Hotel which again is neither a resort or a spa. Just a wretched, miserable disgrace to South Africa sitting in one of the most picturesque spots in the country.

Thank you for your review,

We take note of all customer feedback, and address them to the best of our ability in management meetings.

That being said, we agree with you that Montagu Springs Resort is situated in the one of the most picturesque settings in the country. We are saddened that the resort did not meet your expectations.

Our chalets differ tremendously in accordance to our guests needs and requirements as we would like everyone to enjoy our resort:

The Plettenburgs offer family fun in the excitement hub which is close to the playground and pool.
Josmont Heights are more secluded and offer a birds eye view of the resort.
Our Golden Terraces are set further away from the entertainment area and offer views of lush vineyards with a more serene setting.
The Villas are situated on the mountain side with comfort at the forefront and boast spectacular views of the entire resort.

Possibly next time we could assist you further in selecting a chalet which is better suited for your needs.

I hope you return so you could experience the positive's of our resort that so many of our guests hold in high regard.

Kind regards,
