“A relaxing stay and a superb meal”
Reviewed 21 January 2014

We only stayed one night on our way east. The lodge is deceptive from the street as the guest rooms are spread out in small blocks in the gardens behind. Our room was very spacious and attractively decorated, with a large bathroom with seating on the balcony facing the mountains, .

We dined at the Mimosa Lodge restaurant: their Fine Dine "Wine and Dine" - a 4 course meal accompanied by a different wine for each course - was excellent. The main course beef was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth.

The staff were friendly and went out of their way to help to the extent of calling me to tell me I had left my camera at the hotel - our thanks to all the staff for making our short stay so enjoyable.

It was a very disappointing stay. Having visited Mimosa a few years ago, we were really excited to go again. Unfortunately they have since changed Owners and it felt as if they catered more for tourists than locals. Dinner was overpriced and not up to standard at all. The host was extremely rude and created a very unpleasant atmosphere at breakfast each morning. The staff were amazing and very friendly. The room was neat and pleasant. This is the only two reasons why I’m not rating Mimosa terrible!!!

This was an overnight stop booked almost a year ago. If we had known how good it would be we would have stayed at least for another night.
Our room was modern and spacious, but with an African feel. The bathroom was large and clean. We had a view of the mountains whichever way we looked.
We decided to stay for dinner. As already mentioned, a set meal with or without wines for each course. What an excellent decision. The evening began with a complimentary drink and a chat with the owner.
The four courses were delicious as we're the wines chosen to go with each course. The chef came out to check that we were all happy with the food, a couple of diners made some suggestions which he carefully listened to.
We would recommend Mimosa to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Delightful converted old house that had been a brothel in its day, now a charming hotel.
Service super friendly, and room large and delightful.
They only had a gourmet tasting meal on offer which was superb, cooked by a very talented youn Swiss chef. The wines were superb.

Only stayed for one night and whilst the room was spacious and very nice. The decor was "rustic" and quite pleasant on the eye. The gardens probably needed a bit of TLC. We didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment on the food, but when we went out to eat it was full which is a normally a good sign. We did stay up quite late drinking with Bernie the hotel manager which was very enjoyable

Staff very helpful and accommodating. We had two toddlers with us. Our car broke down on arrival and we were exceptionally well helped in getting the car started with the help of a local mechanic. The staff, garden, pool all helped us to cope with the stress!
