We had a super room with lovely views of the mountains. room was very large but no fridge or aircon. Thought the set menu was alittle pricey for a small hotel. the pool was small but very welcome as it was extremely hot.

Room Tip: ask for one of the larger rooms.

Yet another excellent South African guest house/hotel. Our room was in the modern annexe and was large, airy, well equipped with a balcony. Could not, like some, fault this room.
I did however, object to being asked on about six occasions during our 2 night stay if we were eating in the restaurant (No!) i found this to be rather pushy and off putting. The breakfasts were fine, but did not meet the very high standard we had come across elsewhere.
So overall, quite acceptable, but lacking the charm and very high standards we came across elsewhere in this lovely country.

We were very pleasantly surprised to be allowed to check in early by 2 hours and upgraded to a lovely first floor garden room (no. 22) where the room was spacious and had a huge bathroom and private verandah.
We chose not to eat at the restaurant as there was only a 4 course meal available and we weren't that hungry.
A lighter meal at the Tavern opposite was good value.
The staff were very helpful and I would recommend this stop in Montagu.
Jouberts museum was worthwhile with a detailed knowledgeable guide. This is just around the corner from Mimosa.

Our experience of this hotel was definitely not of a 4 star hotel in fact 1 would be pushed to give it two. The room we had was dirty and tired, the small enclosed garden outside the room was full of rotting leaves and there was no information of any sort in the room. We did not eat dinner there and the breakfast was not appetising either curled up cold meat and cheese or bacon and egg the latter served by a chap in a dirty white jacket.

We stayed here for 2 nights. The room did not have air con just a ceiling fan and the air temperatures were high 30s to low 40s. I can only assume that all the photos I have seen on-line prior to our trip were taken some time ago . Everything was looking very tired, the garden quite shabby and the pool looked dirty. The only thing in their favour was the restaurant, a nouvelle cuisine style menu of 4 courses.

Room Tip: There may well be rooms with air con, worth trying to get one.

Dirty, rooms and bathrooms need replacing. Staff indifferent did not smile.
Man who sirved breakfast was rude and unhelpful. The swimming pool needed a good clean. The only good thing was the restaurant over the road, even the pavement where the shops were was full of cockroaches. Give Montague a miss.

Lovely accommodation set in beautiful gardens in a very convenient central location. Staff and Manager were incredibly helpful, friendly and very professional and we thoroughly enjoyed our all too short stay. Food and service were exemplary and every effort was made to make us feel welcome. Only two comments to improve an already lovely lodge are that there should be much better Wi Fi coverage and air conditioning at this level of luxury should be a must. Otherwise excellent and service very much appreciated.
