7 Church St is a beautiful guest house, in a charming village.
Mike & May are excellent hosts, who make you feel very welcome & will help with any bookings, tips, questions etc.
This was our 4th visit...so that speaks volumes!
All the rooms are clean, charming & most have superb views.
Free wi-fi & TV in all rooms now (Mike is constantly looking at ways to improve things...to stop himself getting bored!)
Plenty of good restaurants within walking distance.
Plenty of good vineyards nearby to stock up on wine!
Will definitely return.

Room Tip: Garden suite has the best views...but is up a flight of stairs.

Great guest house. We had the room above the garage which was fabulous for the three of us (2 adults and a toddler). We put the little one down to sleep in the bedroom then moved her into the open plan living area bed when we were going to bed. Air con had recently been fitted to the main bedroom, which was a real bonus on the days when it was >40.C Beds were very comfortable. Rooms cleaned spotless every day with fresh towels and crisp linen. Very well laid out with quality furnishings. We had a veranda that had a great view of the nearby hills and fabulous sun sets. May & Mike do a fabulous breakfast and cant do enough to help. We were very well looked after.

There were many nice touches around the guest house, like the many paintings :)

The swimming pool was great to cool down in later in the day after some sightseeing. Not the biggest to swim in, but great to mess around and play in with children.

Secure off street parking, not that its needed in the quant town.

Room Tip: Go for one above the garage - its the only one like this and has great views

Do yourself a favour - visit Mike & May's lovely 4 star B&B, even if you're not going to Montagu! The rooms are spacious and luxurious, the surrounding garden is paradise come true, the tranquility is divine. '7 Church Street' is probably the nicest guest house I ever visited.

My husband and I spent a night at 7 Church Street in November and only wish we could have spent a week or more! Montagu is lovely, which explains the large number of B&Bs available - but I can't imagine any could compare with 7 Church Street.

May and Mike are hugely friendly and welcoming. The rooms are beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable, with everything you might want provided. Breakfast is a real experience - a feast of delicious, lovingly home-prepared food. May gave us lots of helpful information re what to see and where to eat etc, whilst Mike (who has a wonderfully dry sense of humour) had lots of info on mountain biking in the area. And the garden is simply idyllic - so many beautiful plants and stunningly landscaped with lots of paths to explore, several leading to a pond with lots of friendly ducks living in it.

Everything added up to an overwhelmingly relaxing experience - such a wonderful guest house in such a beautiful little town in such an amazingly stunning location. I am now dreaming about coming back for longer, spending mornings cycling/hiking and afternoons relaxing in the garden/by the pool... Bliss!

If you come to Montagu, really, make sure you stay here - you won't regret it.

That 7 Church Street and Montagu as a whole remain less well know is probably in my interests. No. 7 has a small number of rooms but it stands out as quite the best guest house we stayed in in South Africa. Beautiful rooms and great hosts.

Montagu as a whole has some charming restaurants and a host of activities that should keep anyone entertained for a good few days on any tour of the winelands. It's a superb base to explore a beautiful part of the country.

We had a wonderful time at 7 Church Street. The owners - May and Mike - are excellent hosts with great humour. They really care about their guests and put all their enegy and love into their guest house.

The guest house itself is a very beautiful old building, filled with nice painings from across the world and a very lovely garden. We stayed at the honeymoon suite which was very nice and we received our own delicious breakfast served in the garden in front of the suite.

Mike gave us great tips as to where to go mountainbiking and hiking. It was great fun!

It was a great pleasure to spend 3 nights here and we will definitely come back one day.

Room Tip: The honeymoon suite can be highly recommended.
