My wife and I were taken to Jungle Jeanie by our daugther and boyfriend (who live in Belize) for a one-night stay on Christmas day. We had a wonderful time and a thoroughly enjoyable meal on Chritmas evening. Our rooms were comfortable and the location is fantastic - sitting on the beach all afternoon on Christmas day drinking beer, talking and playing with the dogs seemed to me a pretty much perfect way to spend the day.Jeanie and all of her staff were very friendly and could not have tried harder to make our stay enjoyable. I think that anyone who criticizes JJ for not being comforatable enough is entirely missing the point - it's charming, friendly and full of atmosphere and I for one don't think it should change at all! Can't wait to go back on our next trip to Belize.

My husband and I stayed in the treehouse at Jungle Jeanies - what an incredible experience!! Jeanie, John & the staff at Jungle Jeanie's made us feel at home right away. The food is amazing!! We really enjoyed our stay- we are definitely goign back next year.
I had booked a "birthday surprise" for my husband - Jeanie arranged for us to be taken by boat to a remote, uninhabited island for the day- like nothing we had ever experienced before. We also had a private dinner for two in the Jungle Palapa- wow!! Amazing! Jeanie and her staff made it look absolutely beautiful for us- a canopy, tons of flowers and candles everywhere - I'm getting teary-eyed just remembering. It was the most romantic day and night of my life. My husband said it was the best birthday he has ever had and neither of us will ever forget.
The people of the village of Hopkins are so kind and so welcoming. We were sad to leave and cant wait to return.

Room tip: This is definitely more "rustic" - if you're looking for luxury and all the accommodations - go somewhere else. If you're looking for a unique, 'homey' place where you can hear the waves and birds as you drift off to sleep...this is it

Jungle Jeannies has everything I ask for when I travel to the tropics. It's on a very nice, clean beach with calm water. It's close to town but not in it. (It's actually right next to the exclusive Hamanasi Resort). Each cabana has enough vegetation around it for privacy. The cabanas are hardwood with thatched leakproof roofs. Inside, they have every basic amenity - bathroom with warm shower, overhead lights and ceiling fans and lots of outlets with dependable electricity, refrigerator, desk and table, very comfortable beds, a spacious porch, and access to WiFi. The resort has a main dining area where they offer breakfast, dinner, and drinks. They also have a palapa in the jungle where they have yoga classes three times a week and sometimes entertainment in the form of local storytelling or Mayan marimba music.
Jeannie also has four German Shephards. They are her pets and are very obedient, playful, quiet, and not at all intimidating.
Jungle Jeannies is really the nicest and most affordable tropical resort I've ever stayed in.

While staying in Hopkins, we asked our hotel owner (Tipple Tree Beya, very nice and affordable small 4-rooms hotel, deserving a separate review), who should she recommend for snorkeling trip, and she directed us to the small family business nearby - Watering Hole. The price for 4 people tour was $200 USD, including water and lunch. Left at 9 a.m., and returned 3 p.m. The sea was rough in the morning, and the guide came to our cabin with apologies and warnings, that the trip might not be very pleasant. We decided to go for it, and in fact that was not so bad, may be because of the Dramamin dose taken before the departure. We were visiting three spots, and it was nice. Definitely, corals were not as good as in Egypt or Israel, but much better than in Hawaii or Costa Rica.
It is highly recommended!

My husband and I stayed at JJ's for two nights. We had a lovely time. The cabana was minimalistic - just the very bare necessities but was perfect for us. The amazing breeze and the sound of the rolling waves was hypnotic and made for amazing sleeping and relaxing. Being dog lovers, we greatly enjoyed visiting wth the three beautiful dogs in residence - including surfing with them. I WAS saddened and surprised by the amount of plastic and other floatsom that has to be cleaned off the beach every morning - but we are all responsible for that. The beach and the water were lovely.
If you're looking for posh and exclusive, by all means go down the beach to the exclusive resorts - but for my money and traveling style, JJ's was a lovely, relaxing place to spend a few days.

Room tip: Go for the Tree House - great breeze!
