We stayed in the Sea Chalet for 3 nights. We emailed back and forth with Naomi and Sarah and they were helpful in helping us plan our trip.

The chalet was right on the ocean, with a hammock on the porch. This was the best part! The nice ocean breeze was wonderful. They had kayaks available and we could just take them whenever and set off kayaking.

There is no A/C which makes for a bit of a sticky sleep and bugs kept getting in despite the screens on the windows. There is no wifi in the room, but there is in the lobby. There isn't a real door to separate the bathroom from the rest of the room. The room was clean.

Location: it was a bit of a walk along a dirt road to get to restaurants. Without a car, it will take a long time to get around. Hopkins was a pretty quiet village. One of the best parts of the location is how close it is to Bocawina Mayflower National Park and not too far from Cockscomb.

Breakfast was not included- it would have been nice if it was. There are 4 German shepherds who live at Jungle Jeanie's. They are enclosed and sweet but they do bark.

Jeanie is a very nice woman and is willing to help you out and asks how your day was.

Stayed: August 2014

A week before I booked I called them up and they were very friendly and helpful. I booked a 2 night stay for mid-week. We arrived earlier than planned, but our room was already cleaned and ready for us. Right on a quite beach with hammocks on the porch and beach chairs right next to the ocean. There were 4 lovely german shepherds on property that made us feel nice and safe. On the first day one of the workers ran into the lobby and asked us if we wanted to see manatees, we ran out and got to see 2 manatees swim by. The food was not great and a little expensive but it was home cooked. The next day we lounged on the quite private beach and went swimming when 3 more manatees poked their noses up right next to us. We went on a river dinner sunset cruise that was nice and simple. Jeanie the owner is one of the most active older ladies I have ever met, walking the beach, swimming and paddle boarding like someone 30 years her junior. We had a great time for a simple little get away.

My wife and I spent the first four days of our honeymoon at Jungle Jeanie's. We absolutely loved everything about it! First, we loved our happy bungalow, which was only 44 paces from the ocean. Most importantly, everyone at Jungle Jeanie's was very kind and helpful. Sara, made us delicious meals, and the receptionist, Naomi, gave us great adventure suggestions, then went the extra mile and booked a reliable taxi driver for us. My favorite day, of ten spent in Belize, was a spontaneous trip spent exploring Mayflower Bocawina National Park, which was suggested to us by Naomi.
In short, we loved the staff, the service, the location. If we are so fortunate as to return to Belize in the future it will include a visit to our friends and Jungle Jeanie's by the Sea!

We stayed in the beach house and the ocean was almost close enough to jump into from the veranda. With the door and windows open there was a breeze most of the time but the humidity and salt air we almost too much for us (not the fault of Jungle Jeanie's!). They have someone trying to rake up the debris that comes in with the tide but it is an never ending battle. Water was pretty clear and quite warm as expected. Their sunset cruise to the lagoon was enjoyable and worth the price since it included dinner and drinks.

Look out the front window and you have Beach and the Sea. Look out the back window and you see Jungle. It is so quiet here; all you can hear is the waves and the Birds. There are all kind of birds all over if you are into Birding.
Short trips to other attractions in the area and you can do almost anything. Zip-lines, Cave Tubing, Fishing, Diving, and A sunset River cruse on Jeanies Pontoon boat.

Hello,

We had the pleasure of once again enjoying a small piece of paradise while staying at Jungle Jeanie's the first week of June 2014. As always we were greeted with a warm welcome and friendly smiles. This is our fourth trip to Belize and our third stay at JJ's, we almost left our other resort back in January as it was such a disappointment compared to all our JJ experiences, so when we decided to go back to Belize in June, it was a no brainer...

We stayed in the tree house this time and although smaller than the Sea Chalet we normally stay in, it was comfortable, and provided us with the amenities we needed like a shower, bed, coffee maker and fridge. The patio was great for our morning coffee and evening rum, with a spectacular view of the beach and ocean just feet away.

Breakfast as always was excellent - Sara still makes the best fry jacks I have had and was there each morning ready to feed us for the day.

The grounds were well managed, some new additions and upgrades have been made since our last visit to JJ's 18 months ago and we enjoyed a pretty much empty resort all week.

For us, this is the only choice when going to Belize, but we know it is not for everyone. I have two other reviews that are much longer with more detailed information from our past trips, but simply wanted to acknowledge a third time how much we love this place and how special it is to us for so many reasons.

If you need something small, rustic but so relaxing and welcoming, this is the spot.

Thanks again to all JJ staff and family!!

Nathalie

One word describes everything about our stay; the people, the food, the views, the Beach House, the hospitality etc. could go on and on. We were lucky enough to be there one evening for the "Moon River / Dinner cruise"! That evening was a wonderful surprise and such a fantastic way to see a bit more of the diverse environments of Belize. The staff at "Jungle Jeanie's by the Sea" is exceptional!
