“Authentic spot with tasty food”
Review of Yugadah's Inn and Cafe - CLOSED

Cuisines: Central American
Description: The Yugadah Inn and Cafe has the best Garifuna cuisine for lunch and dinner in the village of Hopkiins. The Cafe is clean, seats about 25 people and has a nice array of tropical drinks. The fry fish and stew chicken are the BEST!! Rosie, the waitress extraordinaire, was trained at Journey's End in Ambergris Caye. Her sister is the chef and a chef extraordinaire. Make sure you try the authentic Garifuna meal but reservatiosn must be made at least 24 hours in advance.

We loved our meal at Yugadah! It would be a 5 stars if her kid wouldn't have put her shoes on our table while we were eating...

I had a fish fillet with a soy based sauce and "vegetable rice", rice with vegetables all cooked in coconut milk. Super tasty!

You can actually see the owner cook your food while you are sitting.

Definitely a great eating option!

Don't go here if you're in a hurry because everything at Yugadah's is prepared from scratch. We arrived late on a rainy night, the restaurant was empty, and the menu was full of chicken this and meat that (my family is vegetarian). So, of course, we started heading back out thinking that perhaps we'd risk one of the resorts up at Sittee but then Rosie emerged from the back room, told us to sit right down, and proceeded to cook a vegetarian meal for us while we drank some beer, fresh lime juice, and delicious iced tea. The meal itself was simple but wonderful: beans, coconut rice, spiced vegetables, tortillas, and a bean rice dish that I haven't seen elsewhere. Isn't this why we travel?

We only ate here once and it was a good experience, good food and service, however, it wasn't our favorite place. Was told that this was the place to get wings at but never had the opportunity

My husband and five friends ate at Yugadah's last night. The experience is one that should not be missed! Rosie is not only a great cook(along with her sister) she is an awesome server and has a wealth of knowledge with respect to the Garifuna heritage and culture. Her stories and demonstrations come complete with artifacts passed down from her great grandmother. All this for the price of a reasonable, made to order, fresh meal & the coldest Belikin I drank in Belize! The whole experience could not be beat.
PS They offer traditional Garifuna meals with advance order as it takes a lot of time to prepare.

My husband and I visited Yugadah's on our recent trip to Hopkins. The food is terrific and Rosie is fantastic (and her daughter is a doll!). Highly recommended.
