“410th Birthday Celebration in Paradise”

We just returned from a family vacation - where we were celebrating 9 milestone birthdays - totaling 410 years. We were a family of 24, ages ranging from 11 to 87. We combined all the birthdays and decided to have a week of celebration in Belize. Villa Verano was the perfect location. The villa itself is very large and easily accommodated all of us. It is beautifully designed and decorated with plenty of space for the family to spread out. The villa has 3 floor. On the top floor is the penthouse - where one of my cousins stayed. It is a bit secluded from the rest of the villa and therefore gives some more privacy. It was beautifully decorated, with a comfortable King size bed and has an outdoor private shower. On the top floor is also the the gym - which we utilized and the game room, where we had table tennis and billiards competitions. We also used the jacuzzi there several times - for pre or after dinner down time. We also used the 3rd floor to organize a Spa day on morning and have massages for all who were interested - it was really nice.
On the second floor are four bedrooms - all very large and decorated with beautiful carved mahogany wood, with super comfortable beds. We spent a significant amount of time on this floor - since it had a huge living room and dining room. All our breakfasts, lunches and dinners were mostly served here. We hired Chef Gloria, at the recommendation of Elizabeth from Villa Verano - and who was great. She baked fresh bread everyday at the villa and all the meals were delicious. On several occasions, some from our group had gone fishing and she also prepared the catch of the day. One evening we asked that she prepare an Armenian meal for us - and with our help she also accommodated that - she was just wonderful!!!!. We also had asked to be introduced to the culture of Garifuna drummers and dancers, So one evening Elizabeth arranged for local drummers and dancers to visit us after dinner. They were sensational - not only we learned about the culture but we also participated in Garufina drumming and dancing. Would highly recommend this. Finally the lower level had 5 bedrooms, as well as the courtyard and the pool. The bedrooms again had carved mahogany furniture and doors, as well as comfortable beds. The dining area downstairs was smaller and therefore we spent most of the time in and near the pool. The pool is very large and just wonderful to dip into after various activities. One evening we had a large birthday celebration and had dinner downstairs and had a party by the pool. We hired a local band Griga Boys - they were a great band and we danced the night away.
Some of the activities we did were:
Cave Tubing - amazing!!!!
South Barrier Reef Snorkeling and Glover's Reef Atoll with Hopkins Underwater Adventures - again amazing!!! Colorful corals, tropical fish, rays, nurse sharks, barracudas, squid, turtles, spotted rays, scorpion fish, lion fish, unspoiled islands, playful bottlenose dolphins racing with our boat.
Jaguar Preserve and Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary - didn't see any jaguars but the hike and swimming in the basin by the waterfall were both wonderful.
Fishing, kayaking, waterboarding and catamaran sailing.
There were some minor cons - like a lot of seaweed washed by the beach - although this seems to be an overall Caribbean problem - but the staff at the villa were there very early every morning cleaning, also the town of Hopkins had water shortage couple of days - so we had to take turns to shower. Elizabeth and Luis were so helpful in arranging everything for us and accommodating any changes to our schedule. The staff was always helpful - helping us with various water sports, etc.
If you truly want to experience unspoiled nature, Caribbean islands, amazing snorkeling with luxury accomodations - this is the place for you to be. For us it was an adventure of a lifetime and a wonderful celebration of life itself.

“Luxurious beachfront home with top notch guest services”

My husband and I along with friends just returned from a 7 night stay at Villa Verano. From our arrival to departure, Liz and Luis ensured that we had everything we needed, from booking transportation (Chaka was friendly, fun and informative), ordering food, pumping bicycle tires to answering our many questions about Hopkins and Belize in general. Martin and Gerardo were always available to warm the hot tub, ensure that the beach and pool were immaculate, prepare the kayaks or trimaran and even cut coconut from the beach for us to enjoy. The village offers traditional or international cuisine. We only experienced great meals and the people of Hopkins are genuine and friendly. Villa Verano is a luxurious home that is ample for large groups yet manages to feel cozy and welcoming. We enjoyed a roof top hot tub every day just before sunset with the mountain range visible on one side and the ocean on the other. We went snorkelling and spear fishing near the reef and our guide and captain, Lucky was very knowledgeable and gracious. We would recommend that you bring mosquito repellant, which is the only negative part of our trip but we would definitely return for another luxurious and restful holiday.
