We loved absolutely everything. The accommodations, the setting, the amazing staff, the varied activities, and the fabulous weather. This has been a very cold winter in the Northeast USA, so to get warm for a week in such a splendid environment was just what the doctor ordered for each of us. We smiled from the moment we got off the plane in Dangriga until the time we boarded Maya Air a week later.

Prior to our visit to Hamanasi, our family had its ups and downs when trying to get everyone together. We usually have as many opinions as there are members of our family. I felt like the luckiest person alive when I discovered Hamanasi via an Internet search. I sensed immediately that it would appeal to each member of our family. When we returned to the States, my son in law, said it best. "I think this one may have become the gold standard for family vacations!"

We stayed in the beachfront rooms which were amazingly lovely. I prefer the 4 rooms on the upper floor because of the lovely balcony that faces the sea. These are quite close to the main building, but we never once were distracted by any noise.

A highlight for our visit was the morning fishing trip for our grandson. We ate his delicious fish for dinner. The staff prepared the fish in many different and interesting ways. And some of us took our first scuba lesson and are ready to go home and get licensed. Martin was a calm and very competent instructor.

Hamanasi is a jewel and it was a privilege to be able to stay here for a week.

We visited the Hamanasi Adventure & Dive Resort near Hopkins Village, Stann Creek, Belize, in February of 2014 and were delighted with everything the resort offered. Our well-appointed,comfortable beachfront room came with a porch complete with table, chairs, and hammock and gave us a view of the sea. Our excursions included one to two Mayan ruin sites, a canoe trip on the Sittee River, two snorkeling trips to the reef, a fishing trip, a hike in the Jaguar national park, and a boat trip on Monkey River. All of them were fun and informative because of the expertise and knowledge of the guides. Two other outstanding aspects of the resort were the food and the staff. All meals included exotic local foods with a variety of choices and were consistently delicious. What made all of this possible was the excellent staff who were always polite, friendly, and well organized. Being greeted by name was an unexpected pleasure. The staff also are open to suggestions and willing to make changes such as arranging custom excursions by providing a van and a driver. However, lounging by the pool or taking a stroll on the beach or through the property suited us as well. This ecologically minded resort should also be commended for composting its vegetable waste and for other measures to minimize its impact on the environment. In short we would give every aspect of Hamanasi an excellent rating.

Before Kona Village was hit by the tsunami a couple of years ago, we had spent every Thanksgiving week there for the prior decade. We have been looking for a similar experience ever since and Hamanasi comes close. The staff and guides are exceptionally friendly and conscientious, the tree house accommodations are very clean, well-appointed and comfortable, and the food is fresh and tasty. While this is not a “luxury” resort, it is the perfect spot for those seeking a comfortable, friendly, activity- based vacation, but it’s also nice to just sit on the beach or around the pool. The only downside is that it’s not an easy trip from San Francisco. If it were, we would definitely be coming back on a regular basis!

Each morning was like waking up to a movie set depicting a "Hollywood" idea of a tropical paradise - but it was real!!!

The staff and the accomodations at Hamanasi were just excellent all around. My wife and I stayed for a week as part of her parents' 50th wedding anniversary. Everyone on the Adventure staff was attentive and thoughtful, so that our first trip to Belize was both great fun and full of wonderful memories.

Room Tip: Stay close to the beach!!

My husband and I spent 5 days at the Hamanasi for our honeymoon and loved every bit of our stay! It was the perfect mix of a tropical paradise and tucked away jungle oasis. The food was wonderful, the staff was friendly and helpful, and we loved having a little treehouse to ourselves. We did the Mayflower Hike and an afternoon snorkel trip as excursions, as both were wonderful and had fun guides. The hike was definitely a workout, but the views along the way were really pretty. Not too many places to eat in Hopkins, so most/all of your meals will be Hamanasi probably. We loved our time at the Hamanasi and hope to visit again one day!

PS If you're planning your trip for June, don't be fooled by it being the "rainy season." We were in Belize the first two weeks of June and it only rained in the middle of the night occasionally and never interfered with our time in the sun :)

Room Tip: Get one of the tree houses! You won't regret it when your napping in a hammock on your front por...

I stayed at Hananasi in July 2013 (sorry for the late review). I stayed in a tree house with my sister and it was great! You really felt like you were with nature, but not left "out in the woods." The staff was welcoming and warm (for the most part). The food was also really something to look forward to. We took a bike ride into the village and although it was extremely hot, we had great time. The beach is not a blue water beach, but I went in it and it served its purpose to cool me off. I even had something brush up against my leg (I think we narrowed it down to a sting ray) so that was pretty exciting and scary at the same time. This resort is great b/c they are really into conservation and preserving their beautiful Belize!

Terrific place! Went with a large family group and the staff bent over backwards to make sure everything was taken care of. Beautiful place, relaxing, clean, comfortable and the food was wonderful and fresh. All age groups had a wonderful time- perfect for those who wanted adventurous activities and for people who just want to relax. I have never met a nicer staff; from manager to housekeeping, everyone was kind and friendly. No problem with bugs (although we did liberally apply bug spray). Only comment I have in the semi negative category is that it really isn't the perfect place for kids under 12. We had some kids 9-11 and we were given dirty looks when the kids made a lot of noise playing in the pool. With that said though, the younger kids had a fabulous time!
