I am way overdue in writing this review… our vacation was in June of 2014. To summarize this review - search no farther, Hamanasi provides a superior, worry free vacation experience.

Hamanasi is not Sandals, Atlantis or Beaches… and we didn't want that. Hamanasi IS the the perfect laid back, pick your activity level, relaxation resort near a world class reef. It was the perfect honeymoon destination.

The accommodations are top notch, the food is outstanding, and the staff is friendly and engaging. The staff will know your name by the minute you walk in the door and represents a brand that deserves a place among the best hotels. Everything simply "happens" based on when you want to eat breakfast, your choice of tour, and dinner reservation. For example, your sheets will be turned and room cleaned while you are out and done before you get back - always. Get used to quiet nights and epic stars!

Hamanasi provides great tours - We recommend the Mayan Temple tour, scuba/snorkel, and the waterfall hike.

The drinks are reasonable and the bartenders awesome - try the Belikin Stout beer.

We will be vacationing at Hamanasi again - the place was recommended to us by a friend, and we pass on our highest recommendation to anyone considering this type of vacation.

It's so nice to go on a vacation and not have to worry about where to eat and which excursion companies to choose! This resort offers the whole package and takes care of all the stress. We stayed in a beachfront room which was not overly-elegant, but nice. We chose the pre-paid food package and would recommend it. The food was good, with enough choices to keep you satisfied throughout your trip. The dining takes place outside of the main house on the patio, and it was never too hot or uncomfortable; a very nice setting! Make sure to try to molten lava cake!

As for the excursions, we are worriers when it comes to safety (especially in a non-US country), but we felt safe on all three that we chose. The staff is very experienced and knoweldgeable about what they're doing. My comments on the ones we chose are as follows:

Snorkeling - a must! We are not divers, but we still got to see so many neat sea creatures! Stingrays, barricudas, lobsters (beautiful ones!), sea urchins, sea cucumbers, jellyfish, so much decorative coral, and SO many beautiful fish. The trip is 30-40 minutes out and very choppy on the way there, but this is still a great adventure for kids, who can wear a life jacket and be connected to the guide or a parent by a rope. The guide was with us the entire time and pointed to different sealife with a stick, then would come up and explain to us what we were seeing. Great excursion!

Mayan Ruins - this is a great trip if you've never seen ruins before, but note that it makes for a very long day! The trip is about 2 1/2 to 3 hours out. We left at 7am and returned home around 5pm. If you've seen ruins in other countries, I might recommend that you skip this one. But otherwise worth the long drive and the history lesson.

Mayflower Hike - definitely recommend! They say that it's strenuous, and it is! The last part of the hike is very steep and must be done with all four limbs. Older (8+), agile children would be OK, but if you're not somewhat in shape, this wouldn't be for you. The sights were beautiful though, so definitely worth the effort!

They did warn us about the construction on the main building, but in our four days there I only heard the noise from it once. I certainly don't think it should be a big enough distraction to keep anyone from choosing this place.

TVs are not available in the rooms (or anywhere), and wifi is available only in the main house. The wifi connection was just OK. We were not able to Facetime, but we were able to Skype home on the laptop computer they had available in the lobby. Wish they had wifi in the rooms!

Belize is the only English-speaking country in Latin America (a surprise to me), so everyone speaks English very well, and you will be able to read all of the signage around town. The country is lined with rows and rows of citrus trees (something you'll see if you do the Mayan tour). It's a very poor country, but still beautiful and safe.

Based on our experience, we would definitely recommend Hamanasi! Enjoy your vacation wherever you choose to go!

I'm 3wks late in writing our review, but the wonderful experiences are still fresh in my mind. We have never stayed in such a beautiful resort with such wonderful people, food and drinks. I cannot brag enough about this place. THE STAFF/GUIDES - very friendly, very genuine. THE RESORT - Beautifully designed and incorporated into the beach and lush surroundings. We stayed in a deluxe treehouse, which was beautifully decorated with Belizean accents and their breathtaking hardwood. The bed was very comfortable! We slept like a baby every night! THE FOOD/DRINK - Excellent, Flavorful! There was a special for lunch and dinner and the dinner menu rotated, so there was always something new to try. TRULY A 5 STAR EXPERIENCE!!! See you guys next year!

Everyone at this resort makes you feel like they are there specifically for you. It is all inclusive in every way. The diving is great and they clean your gear between dives, set up your tanks for you, etc. The front desk staff is very helpful when trying to book excursions. Overall, one of the best resorts I have been to. The rooms have personalized touches, like a welcome note on a leaf and metal water bottles with your names on them for day excursions.

My wife has been certified for scuba just a few years and wanted to go someplace different from your normal beachfront resort. Hamanasi is definitely away from any city night life and is very peaceful. The resort is was a bit of a trip from Belize City Airport (15 min puddle jumper ride and 45 min minivan ride) but no more than you would take to get to Playa Del Carmen from Cancun.

The majority rooms are on stilts up in the trees (not true tree houses) so there is not much noise other than a bird or two calling in the morning. Even though they talk about the construction going on (they even had us respond to a email saying we knew there was construction) the noise was not that noticeable nor was it ongoing throughout the day. The rooms were comfortable, clean, roomy and well maintained.

The grounds are well kept and they have small pots at the foot of all the stairs to wash the sand off your feet. They even have someone come each day to change out the water (probably for mosquito control) and place a flower in the water. There are people that also sweep up the leaves from the sand to the paths to your room. When it is about to rain, someone comes and picks up all of the lounge cushions so they don't get wet then puts them back out when the rain moves on. Great attention to detail.

Service was exceptional from the time you made your reservation to the time you leave. Once someone had served you, they were calling you by your first name as if you had been there a long time. There primary goal is to keep you happy and relaxed.

The dive experience was great as well. SAFETY is the number one priority and they made sure everything was working properly and that you felt comfortable before you dove. At the end of your stay they even give you a detailed print out of all of your dives in case you didn't have your log book. One note about the dives: if you plan on doing the Blue Hole/Aquarium dive don't forget that it is a 2 1/2 hr boat ride there and back. If the seas are a little choppy then it can be a really long trip.

If you want relaxation, great service, good food and superb diving, I would highly recommend Hamanasi. However, If you need parties and nightlife then you will have a long ride back to civilization to find it.

Room Tip: No TV, no phones in the rooms, Internet at the main building so things are quiet and relaxing. Make...

This place was great. Was it perfect, no. I took my wife and 2 children hoping we would have amazing diving and inland tours. Unfortunately, the diving was just ok, not great. Everything else was wonderful. Our room was great and we really enjoyed all our meals. You do really need to be aware of the bugs as they can get nasty very quickly, one day to the next. This resort tries to give you the best of all worlds and almost succeeds.

Our family had a wonderful stay at Hamanasi! The staff was incredibly hard-working and there was nothing they didn't try to do in anticipation of their guests needs. The guides are locals with great information to share and the pride they feel in their heritage it expressed in their stories. If you love adventure with a mix of relaxation this is a wonderful place to visit. The excursions provided an education about the people of Belize, the Mayan history, rainforest plants and animals mixed with the adventures of diving, snorkeling, strenuous hikes to waterfalls, ziplining, climbing ruins, and kayaking down the river. We would advise that you follow the recommendations regarding what to bring with you for the excursions. I would also suggest you bring a small backpack to carry with you on inland adventures - just makes keeping bug spray and a water bottle with you a little easier. We loved our stay at Hamanasi and would highly recommend it!

Room Tip: We stayed in a room facing the beach and pool and steps from the "main house". We loved th...
