“Absolutely amazing!”

Everything about Belize was absolutely beautiful, but staying at Hamanasi made it feel like home. The staff got to know our names so when we sat down for a delicious meal every morning and evening, it felt like we were at a friend's house. From the moment we arrived and got our welcome drinks to the sad day we departed to come back home, we didn't have to think about a thing! Everything was taken care of for us and the staff always went above and beyond...with a smile on their faces! Somehow, it was perfectly relaxing and adventurous at the same time. We enjoyed everything we did--cave hiking, mountain hiking to a waterfall where we went swimming, ziplining through the rainforest, snorkeling in the crystal clear water at the coral reef, horseback riding through the orange groves, kayaking and even just taking the complimentary bikes to the friendly town of Hopkins. It was a dream and we can't wait to plan our next trip ... once we're certified in scub diving!

Everyone we met from the tour guides to the drummers to the people at the grocery store in town welcomed us with a wave and couldn't wait to share their culture with us. I feel like we learned so much about Belize. I've travelled to many places in the U.S. and overseas and Hamanasi is by far one of my most enjoyable, memorable vacations yet.

I will say, if you're looking for a luxurious or ritzy location, this isn't it. There aren't shops, large restaurants or evenly paved roads, but as long as you're prepared for that, you'll love every minute of it!

Room Tip: We stayed in the beachfront villa for 4 nights and the treehouse for another 4 nights. They're b...

Hamanasi Resort does not fall short of the expectations from the awesome trip adviser reviews. We stayed there for a week this July and the experience was absolutely awesome. They make the whole experience really easy, from travel from Belize City until you step onto the resort. They take great care to make sure your adventures are planned, and that you don't forget what you are doing each day. The adventures are really fantastic, and the tour guides (Golden, Ehms, and Antonio especially!) are so wonderful. The waterfall hike and cave tour involves some moderate climbing and I am petrified of heights - the guides made me feel at ease and guided me through it the entire way paying special attention to me because of my fear of heights. This was really appreciated!

The food at the resort is outstanding. I recommend the meal/adventure package which is what we did. Everything was just taken care of. Breakfast was continental everyday, with numerous fresh juices that changed daily, homemade breads, eggs, granola, etc. It was really yummy and perfect since we left in the AM for most adventures. The lunch menu stays the same everyday apart from the specials, but there is enough variety where I didn't get bored. Especially since on the longer trips, Hamanasi provides a packed lunch. This was also so great. I expected sandwiches or something, but they actually bring fresh chicken, rice and beans, salads, a full meal! It was great. The dinners were also AMAZING. The lobster was SOOO good. It is 10 bucks extra but the tails were HUGE and so worth it. The dinner menu also changes everyday and is outstanding. Key lime pie dessert was my favorite!

The room was super clean, and the AC worked great. The staff kept our room free of sand which I really appreciate. We were on the beachfront. The happy hour was a lot of fun, and drinks were yummy, although a touch pricey but not too bad.

Everything at this resort is wonderful and I highly recommend it! You won't regret your choice!

The staff was friendly and very helpful, they knew our names after the first day. The dive shop offered the best service of any dive shop that we have used. From storing our dive gear to transferring it to the boat and assembling for the dives to daily cleaning and a dive profile spread sheet at the end of our stay. A top notch service.
The wait staff were wonderful, friendly greetings at 5:30 AM, coffee ready, prompt service at all meals and the meals were very good.
The resort was a bit out of the way ( 20 minute puddle jumper ride from Belize City and 45 minute van ride) but the van driver told us of some of the sites and answered questions during the ride.
Entertainment at the resort was very good, local drummers and singers and dancers were very entertaining and educational.
The in-land tours were educational and fun, well planned and the intensity levels were accurately noted.
During our stay we became friends with most of the other guests due to the small resort feel and shared experiences.
Do be aware of the "no see ums". Bug spray is needed on occasion, not always but occasionally.
The rooms do not have wi-fi but it is available at the dining area, my experience was that it was slow.

I am way overdue in writing this review… our vacation was in June of 2014. To summarize this review - search no farther, Hamanasi provides a superior, worry free vacation experience.

Hamanasi is not Sandals, Atlantis or Beaches… and we didn't want that. Hamanasi IS the the perfect laid back, pick your activity level, relaxation resort near a world class reef. It was the perfect honeymoon destination.

The accommodations are top notch, the food is outstanding, and the staff is friendly and engaging. The staff will know your name by the minute you walk in the door and represents a brand that deserves a place among the best hotels. Everything simply "happens" based on when you want to eat breakfast, your choice of tour, and dinner reservation. For example, your sheets will be turned and room cleaned while you are out and done before you get back - always. Get used to quiet nights and epic stars!

Hamanasi provides great tours - We recommend the Mayan Temple tour, scuba/snorkel, and the waterfall hike.

The drinks are reasonable and the bartenders awesome - try the Belikin Stout beer.

We will be vacationing at Hamanasi again - the place was recommended to us by a friend, and we pass on our highest recommendation to anyone considering this type of vacation.

It's so nice to go on a vacation and not have to worry about where to eat and which excursion companies to choose! This resort offers the whole package and takes care of all the stress. We stayed in a beachfront room which was not overly-elegant, but nice. We chose the pre-paid food package and would recommend it. The food was good, with enough choices to keep you satisfied throughout your trip. The dining takes place outside of the main house on the patio, and it was never too hot or uncomfortable; a very nice setting! Make sure to try to molten lava cake!

As for the excursions, we are worriers when it comes to safety (especially in a non-US country), but we felt safe on all three that we chose. The staff is very experienced and knoweldgeable about what they're doing. My comments on the ones we chose are as follows:

Snorkeling - a must! We are not divers, but we still got to see so many neat sea creatures! Stingrays, barricudas, lobsters (beautiful ones!), sea urchins, sea cucumbers, jellyfish, so much decorative coral, and SO many beautiful fish. The trip is 30-40 minutes out and very choppy on the way there, but this is still a great adventure for kids, who can wear a life jacket and be connected to the guide or a parent by a rope. The guide was with us the entire time and pointed to different sealife with a stick, then would come up and explain to us what we were seeing. Great excursion!

Mayan Ruins - this is a great trip if you've never seen ruins before, but note that it makes for a very long day! The trip is about 2 1/2 to 3 hours out. We left at 7am and returned home around 5pm. If you've seen ruins in other countries, I might recommend that you skip this one. But otherwise worth the long drive and the history lesson.

Mayflower Hike - definitely recommend! They say that it's strenuous, and it is! The last part of the hike is very steep and must be done with all four limbs. Older (8+), agile children would be OK, but if you're not somewhat in shape, this wouldn't be for you. The sights were beautiful though, so definitely worth the effort!

They did warn us about the construction on the main building, but in our four days there I only heard the noise from it once. I certainly don't think it should be a big enough distraction to keep anyone from choosing this place.

TVs are not available in the rooms (or anywhere), and wifi is available only in the main house. The wifi connection was just OK. We were not able to Facetime, but we were able to Skype home on the laptop computer they had available in the lobby. Wish they had wifi in the rooms!

Belize is the only English-speaking country in Latin America (a surprise to me), so everyone speaks English very well, and you will be able to read all of the signage around town. The country is lined with rows and rows of citrus trees (something you'll see if you do the Mayan tour). It's a very poor country, but still beautiful and safe.

Based on our experience, we would definitely recommend Hamanasi! Enjoy your vacation wherever you choose to go!

I'm 3wks late in writing our review, but the wonderful experiences are still fresh in my mind. We have never stayed in such a beautiful resort with such wonderful people, food and drinks. I cannot brag enough about this place. THE STAFF/GUIDES - very friendly, very genuine. THE RESORT - Beautifully designed and incorporated into the beach and lush surroundings. We stayed in a deluxe treehouse, which was beautifully decorated with Belizean accents and their breathtaking hardwood. The bed was very comfortable! We slept like a baby every night! THE FOOD/DRINK - Excellent, Flavorful! There was a special for lunch and dinner and the dinner menu rotated, so there was always something new to try. TRULY A 5 STAR EXPERIENCE!!! See you guys next year!

Everyone at this resort makes you feel like they are there specifically for you. It is all inclusive in every way. The diving is great and they clean your gear between dives, set up your tanks for you, etc. The front desk staff is very helpful when trying to book excursions. Overall, one of the best resorts I have been to. The rooms have personalized touches, like a welcome note on a leaf and metal water bottles with your names on them for day excursions.
