I loved this all inclusive. I have been to other all inclusive resorts, and this one has the best food. Every nite was a different theme so you never get board. The brace is private and beautiful. Plenty of hammocks, enjoy the monkeys and birds and iguanas. It's paradise, it's surrounded by nature so expect little lizards around your room, and centipedes, in the morning we would see the workers stomp on them and clean up the walkways. Go to the Congo canopy tours on your own, you will save a lot of $. Rent a car and explore beautiful Costa Rica! I am dying to go back. Hope this helps!

Room Tip: Ocean view.

We were there in the off season (May 2013) so it wasn't very full which means that not all the amenities were up and running (which was understandable but also sort of a bummer). The staff was pleasant, and while they were able to speak fluent English, there was still a communication barrier that caused a lack of comprehension for what was being asked. The hotel itself was ok not excellent but not terrible and it is situated at a beautiful location. The hotel has definitely seen better days but there has to be a reasonable expectation when you look at the price point in comparison. It is of note that the inclines are incredibly steep so the shuttle is a necessity. A couple of the days the maids made towel art which was a neat touch. The food at the buffet was ok, always plenty of fresh fruit which works for me. We paid the $25 for Wifi (which was good all week in public areas) since we didn't have a cell signal there but i have an iphone so we were able to put in a facetime call to let our loved ones know we were there safely. There was a surprising lack of monkeys and abundance of racoons.

Room Tip: Bring a water bottle with you to refill and keep hydrated, they have jugs of water around the proper...

My boyfriend and I arrived on June 7, 2014. My reservation was for a King size bed. When I arrived to the room with the Bell Boy and my Boyfriend, the room had two beds, the toilet seat was completely detatched from the toilet, and it was facing upside down. I said to my boyfriend "What would Anthony Melchiorri do" (Hotel Impossible) great show you must watch. Very disappointed. They switched us to a room with a king size bed which I was happy with. The resort is beautiful, but needs lots of upgrading. Let's not forget the crocodile that was swimming in the Bay. Therefore we were unable to swim in the Bay. We were offered a presentation with their sister Resort Grand Papagayo across the Bay. We took them up on it, and switched over the next day to the Grand Papagayo. Very different atmosphere.

Room Tip: If you plan on going with children make sure you ask all the questions you need to before booking. T...

Staff- young kids, friendly but no authoritative figure to talk to for more clarification- big frustation
Room- cleanliness and service to 2 star standard like Motel 6- I had to wear ear plugs some nights- Had to call 4 times to get a few bottles of water to the room. Bed sheet didn't get changed after 3 nights until I threw it on the floor. Bugs crawled on the bed.
Food- We got so sick of it and decided to leave sooner
Excursion- everywhere at least 30 min of car ride. The closest is Coco beach, not much to see besides gift stores
Beach- it's not even a mile long and black sand beach so no one can swim in there. The compensation is the large swimming pool.
Communication- big disappointment. I got so afraid for being late to the airport when the driver didn't show up at the time we requested. I yelled on the phone to vent and the driver showed up 45 min late. He apologized there's some confusion about the time.
They tried to sell Guests time share.
No recommendation for me to use this hotel for your vacation. We didn't have any choice and got stuck with the food and room service already paid for.

Our trip to Allegro Papagayo was nothing short of amazing! Carlos was extremely attentive with any needs at the restaurant and also provided great recommendations on "must see" attractions outside of the resort. With this advice, we rented a car and were able to see local volcanos, beautiful waterfalls, and beaches. Thank you for making this trip so memorable!!!!

The food was ok and the rooms were decent but what made the difference were the staff, particularly Marilyn and Cristopher. They kept us entertained and were just great people to have around. They really added to the great vacation that we had. Pura Vida!

I have not yet travelled extensively but I want to return to Costa Rica and stay at this resort again because the staff was so amazing and helpful. We needed to make some changes to tours we had booked and the front desk staff assisted to make sure they had all the paperwork we needed to go to Nicaragua for the day and assisted us with phone calls to make our travel arrangements. When we returned to the hotel every evening we spent some time with Marilyn and Cristopher who were entertainment staff. Thy put on a great show in the evening and we made quick friends and spent extra time with them. They made us feel more like friends than guests and we can't wait for a return visit to see our new friends.
