If you want a beautiful place to stay that is so relaxing, this is it. Costa Rica has come so far with improving their infrastuction, street signs are stil very elusive, it is now very travel friendly. Everyone in Costa Rica is so friendly and of course and the Four Seasons, doubley so. This was an amazing place to stay, the property sits on a very extensive piece of land and with this much space you have an opportunity to see wildlife (monkeys, lizards, etc) without ever leaving the property. The F&B outlets were amazing as well.

My husband and I enjoyed a 4 night stay here this month. We are huge Four Seasons fans and this place did not disappoint.

It is sprawling--main lobby + 3 restaurants + gym + spa + pools are together; overlooking them are 2 big room blocks. The suites are a major hike up the hillside. The golf/tennis centers + steak restaurant are a 10 min drive away (hotel has cars to take you).

Staff are incredibly friendly and polite. Nice business center with free computers/internet. Food is decent but not great--our dinner at Caracol was significantly better than other restaurants. Adding on their required 10% svc charge and 13% tax hikes the bill nicely--$6.15 for a Diet Coke?--but this is a Four Seasons after all.

Only a few tips--the shuttle from airport is nice but you may get stuck waiting for others. The golf center has a nice store where snacks and beverages are much cheaper. Bring your own DVDs to watch. They have great sunscreen of varying spfs. We did the zip line tour but all other tours are a major commitment of time.

This was our first time in Costa Rica. The four seasons was a perfect fit for my husband and I. It was very casual and laid back. Dress for dinner could be sandals, with shorts or sun dress etc. Food was very good and not that expensive if you come from a major metroplitan city in the US. Service was great and the location was beautiful. Golf course is a must for golfers, I am not a golfer but rode in the golf cart with husband and enjoyed the scenery and wildlife. Enjoyed seeing the beautiful birds, howler monkeys, white faced monkeys and other wildlife in their natural habitat.

I would also like to mention that we used Liberia tours for our transfers and our private horseback ride. Andres Monturiol was fabulous, kind, prompt and very very helpful. His prices were the best and his service was fantastic. we used his services for the airport and hotel transfers in addition him arranging a private horse back ride for us which no tour company offered. I highly recommend you contact him at www.liberiatours.com for all your transfers and tours.

Feel free to contact me for any advice on this area and hotel.

I just returned from a great "rainy season" stay at this resort. What a great time of year to go -- the resort was practically deserted, and we felt like we had it all to ourselves, and the service levels were uncompromised. There was a bit of rain every day, nice warm short bursts of rain that freshened up everything and did nothing to take away from our enjoyment. The staff are friendly and attentive, the grounds and rooms beautiful. We stayed in the least expensive room and it was plenty of space for myself and my two teenage daughters.

The resort has a Teen Room that my girls really enjoyed, with a friendly attendant who was always on spot at all advertised hours even tho my girls were apparently the only teens on the resort.

The resort is wonderful, just this as warning: The resort is far from everything and there is no easy way to dine outside the resort. If you hope to see anything of local culture, or even to taste Costa Rican food, be sure to book outside excursions with Mainor Lara's "Tours Your Way." (find them via Google). As all the reviews will attest, Mainor and his guys are great. You will pay less and do more than if you book a tour through the hotel. Plus, instead of being loaded onto a shuttle with a group of other Four Seasons tourists, you will be in a private car and get special treatment wherever you go, and the option to go off plan if you want. For example, we had Mainor take us out shopping for food and wine, to buy Costa Rican soccer jerseys, and to get the local coffee to bring home.

If you are going to be at the resort for more than a few days, you will really welcome the opportunity to go off site. But in any case, it would be a shame to go all the way to Costa Rica and only see the inside of a Four Seasons Resort, as beautiful and luxurious as it is.

WiFi: You will have to pay $25 a day PER DEVICE for Internet access. The only place where you can get free internet access is in the lobby of the hotel.

We enjoyed our stayed at the Four Seasons. The property is amazing. Beach on both sides! It was a first stay in a real luxury hotel. We were a bit surprised on just how expensive food and drinks were. However, the food and service were truly amazing. Also, everything costs a little extra (i.e. tennis courts, fitness center) with the exception of the beach toys, boogie boards, kayaks, etc. We had a great time there though.

My girlfriend and I spent a week at the FS Costa Rica back in August. While it technically was the rainy season, the first day was really the only day that ended up being a wash. Overall, the hotel is absolutely amazing. From the moment we arrived, the staff was outstanding, everyone was excellent, from the front desk to the housekeepers. Even the small things were taken care of quickly and with a smile. We traveled to the Four Seasons for some time away from it all, and the secluded nature of the resort was perfect. The layout of the pools and style of the pool decks were unique and seemed to blend perfectly with the surrounding environment. Golf was amazing and absolutely worth it, if for nothing else, to see the views and interact with all the wildlife.

The room was absurd. The suite with plunge pool is set up on the hillside and adds to the secluded feeling. As other reviewers have mentioned, there's absolutely no reason to leave the room. I was worried at first due to the golf cart ride to the room, but it's an easy walk down to the resort and a golf cart was never more than a few minutes away if needed. Regardless, we were originally going to stay in a standard room, and after seeing them, we would absolutely come back and stay in one of those (especially to make the trip more economically reasonable).

Other than the room being the best I've ever enjoyed, I want to mention the food/restaurants. As mentioned above, the resort is rather secluded, which can be a problem in regard to dining options when staying at a resort with limited choices. Fortunately, the restaurants at the resort are delicious. There are multiple options ranging from poolside fare to sushi to a steakhouse. We loved every single meal (including our daily breakfast through room service). Don't let the secluded nature of the resort scare you when it comes to dining, as the food at the resort is fantastic.

Overall the resort is a perfect retreat, and it's an easy 2.5 hour flight from Miami (and an easy/enjoyable drive through the countryside from Liberia's airport). Use Tours Your Way for your airport transfer needs and tours. Mainor is great to deal deal with and his prices are great considering what you get (the best part is that you call the shots and can basically make any changes you want on the fly).

The Four Seasons in Costa Rica exceeded all expectations! This is truly a place to come back to as often as possible. Nicely secluded , quite without being stuffy. The staff was exceptional and made you feel so very welcome. Lovely pools, good restaurants and a heavenly spa. I keep thinking of any negatives to mention, and I can think of none...ok it rained one day...

We flew in San Jose and drove the following morning. Not a bad drive, but not one I feel compelled to repeat. Will definitely be flying in and out of Liberia..

I set up an all day tour with Tours Your Way and Alejandro took my family away. While I got more peace and quiet , my husband, daughter and son-in-law had the day of a lifetime. Starting with a fabulous breakfast empanada from a vendor (my husband still dreams about that empanada)... followed by ziplining, horseback riding, river rafting, mud baths and more. Lunch was fit in there as well. The tour was the highlight of the trip for them, and the only casualty was a camera...if you find it in the river let us know!

It would be easy to say that Alejandro was a fabulous tour guide, he is so much more...he was our host in his country and shared it with us. He was knowledgeable, friendly and oh so gracious. Since it was a private tour we were able to go places where groups couldn't always go and frankly the price was very competitive. Would definitely use Tours Your Way every time and ask for our friend Alejandro.
