This hotel has an amazing staff that goes above and beyond to make you feel special. We arrived and Erica, Vincent and Ignacio made sure we were taken care of. We were given a very tasty drink while we waited for our room.

I especially liked this hotel because it's not like your average hotel. The rooms were in different buildings throughout the property. It was nice to walk everywhere. If you didn't want to walk you could call for a golf cart to pick you up.

Since we went around Mother's Day my husband surprised me with a spa massage. The Onda Spa was beautiful and the massage was by far one of the best ones I've had. The spa staff was amazing!

The hotel itself is perched on a hill with all kinds of wildlife around the property. We saw some monkeys and iguanas and loved waking up to the birds chirping.

The pool was great...since it was during low season, I almost had the pool to myself.

The restaurant food was pretty good...they had typical "American" food which was what we usually order. The best dish I had was the petite filet! Have a nice meal and enjoy the beautiful view of the marina and water.

On one of the last days we went zip-lining in the Monteverde Cloud Forest. It was amazing! Our adventure was booked right through the hotel.

If you want a personal experience at a beautiful hotel I would highly recommend the Andaz Papagayo. Thanks again for a wonderful stay! We have already referred a few friends to make the trip! You guys were amazing! :-)

This was our first visit to a Hyatt Andaz and we were blown away by the superior rooms and property. We never left the hotel grounds because we had such a good time just relaxing (actual relaxing!)

The rooms are amazing. All beautifully appointed, modern and comfortable. From the huge lightbulb shaped lamp (mirrored later by antique lightbulbs in Chao Pescao) to the luxurious bed, everything in the room was what we wanted. I don't know why but we were thrilled that the minibar was free. It's just fun. Speaking of fun, that's the whole feel. When we arrived in our rooms there was a hat for my wife and a hat for me along with sandals for both and a nice beach bag. The type of hats one should wear on vacation, something that felt like a gift and not an amenity.

The bath is particularly cool because you can open the door to the shower on either end. One end opens to the balcony so you can shower "outdoors" while still being tucked in privacy. There is a rain shower head too. I'm not one to rave over bath products but these were awesome and we bought some upon our return to the States (example: Bamboo and lemongrass body wash from Lather)

The balcony is nice as you can close it off and it has a great couch, table and large lamp. It feels like an additional room and is perfect for stargazing or enjoying the calm Costa Rica breeze. We had dinner there our first night and loved having what felt like a very private spot.

We visited the property in the first month it was open. The staff all are very friendly and will do anything they can to help make your stay memorable. One thing to know is that you have to be relaxed. Things still run on "tico time" on occasion which just means that the pace is slower and things get done, just not always right away. We had to call twice for a few things but it was not a big deal and I think they were just getting set up and adapting to a wide variety of guests. Excellent service throughout, the guys that run the carts (if you need a lift from one part of the property to the other) were all an example of how the employees seemed to really care that each guest is having a great time.

We ate mainly at Rio Bongo for breakfast and lunch and Chao Pescao for dinner. Rio Bongo is good, nothing knocked our socks off. We did lunch by the pool at Ostra which was nice but a little pricy. The culinary gem is Chao Pescao, the tapas restaurant on the far end of the property. Very lively and they had the most interesting combinations of drinks. Ostra didn't have what we wanted for diner (and felt too expensive) so we enjoyed the company of our friends in the open air at Chao Pescao. Live music one night that was perfect - everything pure and happy and authentic.

In my many travels to Costa Rica this is a standout star for hotels. First it is very luxurious by the old standard of 10 years ago. Second, it just has something. A special feel that makes you enjoy being there.

Howler monkeys were found each day, often they found us. They camped for hours by one pool which led to lots of great shots and more importantly, how many times in your life do you get to just sit in an infinity pool and watch the wonder of nature take place. (Monkeys will sleep for hours, it's not always exciting...but still 20 monkeys a 50 yards away!)

The beaches are both modest but private and one is nice for snorkeling or paddle boarding. We took the sea kayaks out and saw an enormous ray. We enjoyed the pool area more which is rare for us but that may be because it was adults only and simply serene.

Could go on and on but stranger to stranger, you will love the Hyatt Andaz Papagayo. We booked a return for November a few weeks after we returned home it's that good! The room comfort, privacy, and pura vida life made our trip priceless.

Room Tip: Buildings three and four are up higher on the hill which leads to better views. Also it may be quie...

The front desk staff at the Andaz Guancaste Papgoyo made our stay at the resort a very enjoyable one- incredibly helpful and friendly. The resort food at Rio Bongo was the nicest we've had in the Peninsula - definitely worth trying. The room we stayed in was very comfortable and had a very open concept. We did not manage to try the spa facilities but was given a tour in the huge spa facilities by a staff who happen to walk by - very beautiful and it has a few areas for the resort's guests to relax and enjoy. Highly recommending the stay here if you are in the Guancaste Papagayo region.

I travel for my job 4-5 days a week, almost every week of the year. Pretty much anywhere in the world, and this property was definitely one of the top 3 I have ever stayed at! Hyatt has a great property in Mumbai India with incredible service, and accommodations, and this property was at definitely better from a personal service perspective, while the room accommodations and property were incredible! Within 24 hours staff was calling us by name! The property was built into the hill side above the water. Beautiful horizon pools back up to trees on the hill side with monkeys hanging out (literally) in the tops! The pool side service was great. The food and drinks were were wonderful. There is a Tapas restaurant on property along with a couple others. The Tapas restaurant has a bar with a mixologists (Clark) that made some of the best drinks I have ever had! The food was great and Josephine our waitress was terrific. We ate there every night!

The staff is young, and very into being on the top of their game. What energy and attention to detail!
The Andaz has done a great job training these folks. When we checked in we were greated by Ignacio Gomez, I believe originally from Spain. What a great guy, made us feel welcome right away.
If you are looking to relax, be pampered, eat and drink excellently, and have a romantic get away in a place were the water is in the mid 80's and crystal clear, this should definitely be on the top of your list. Just a 5 hr flight from New Jersey!

Room Tip: They all look out over the water. The top level, floor 3 and we were in Building 7, up the hippo a b...

This property is incredible I would highly recommend! I saw a howler monkey every single day I was there!

The pools are amazing and the beach is a lot of fun to explore. Take the kayaks out, it's a lot of fun! Rooms and views are clean, big and impressive. Rain showers in the bathrooms!!

We arrived at this hotel for a two-night stay with our family. The drive from Liberia airport to the hotel only took about a half hour - but signage was spotty and we took a few wrong turns just minutes before arriving. There is a roundabout with no sign stating which turn to take.

Upon arrival at the resort, you drive through two separate gates with attendants. A nice security feature. At the front desk we were greeted in the open air reception area (beautiful) by smiling faces offering a refreshing free glass of juice - a very nice touch. After locating our reservation, we were soon escorted to our rooms via golf carts which were always ample and available during our stay. The hotel is situated on the side of a hill - so you are always either going up or down the hill to get most places.

Our room was beautiful and we spent a lot of our time enjoying the balcony and relaxing. All of us loved the shower with doors that opened to the outside. We sat on our balcony each night sipping wine, viewing the sunset and watching the howler monkeys antics in the trees. You may want to bring binoculars. The monkeys do wake you up each morning and it seems once you are awake...they go back to sleep. A great sound and not a problem for us. If you don't want to be woken early, you may want to bring earplugs.

The infinity pool was great - wonderful for children as it gradually sloped into the pool - like a beach. The food was very good at the various restaurants and not as expensive as I had read on other posts. I also had read that the beer was free in the room refrigerator but no beer was found in our refrigerator. I later learned that it was probably the suites that offered the free beer. We did enjoy the other complimentary drinks and snacks offered. Housekeeping did a good job although they did not come back the second evening to refresh towels and turndown the bed - but otherwise than that we had no complaints. All of the staff were extremely friendly and courteous.

I would highly recommend staying at this resort for rest and relaxation. It is very quiet and serene! One of the best days of my vacation in Costa Rica was spent at the Andaz, sleeping on a lounge chair, at the beach, listening to the sound of the ocean....alone. A great stay.
