“Amazing View; Perfect Location; Wonderful People”
Reviewed 14 January 2014

Buenos Aires has the best view to watch sunset as it is perched high on the top of a hillside. It is just a short walk to the beach, restaurants, shops, bank, yoga, surf shop & anything else you may need & nice to be off the main dusty road. The walk up/down the hill to the hotel is great exercise (take the stairs) although some opt to rent ATVs. The hotel itself is very quaint as Javi treats everyone like family offering his knowledge of the area & help with arranging transportation or anything you may need. He & Flo are wonderful people keeping the property very clean & well maintained & the environment very laidback. All rooms are spacious with the upstairs having AC & downstairs having fans so you have options for your budget. With all you get for the price, you will not be disappointed with your stay here! From the minute you book your room, you have a friend in Javi & he will ensure your stay will be wonderful.
The hotel restaurant, Brisas del Mar, open for breakfast & dinner is also quite good.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms have AC. First floor rooms have fans only...and a hammock. All rooms are spac...

We stayed at Buenos Aires Hotel for almost two weeks based on the reviews here. The hotel did not disappoint, it provides very good bang for your buck. Javier is a fantastic owner, he is basically your concierge and has mastered the art of always being available to help yet providing complete privacy to guests. It's great to have his local knowledge to get around, and we thoroughly enjoyed our mornings in the water with him also. He genuinely cares about your happiness, and it shows. We also loved Luna the dog, she's quite a lovable character.

The hotel's location is ideal - high above the road, out of the hustle and bustle of the town yet only a 5 minute walk away. Yes it's a bit of a climb up to the hotel, but it's a small price to pay for such an amazing view. It was actually nice to get a bit of exercise between all those beers.

Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Get a second floor room if you want a view from your room.

We stayed here for four nights in December of 2013 and were so happy with our choice. Javier goes to great lengths to make his guest house warm and comfortable rather than sterile and impersonal. He is a great host and gave us tons of helpful information about the area from restaurants to surfing to local culture which made our stay so much more special.

The grounds are beautiful with stunning views of the ocean and jungle hills. Everything is well cared for without feeling contrived or manicured and the whole place has the feeling of staying with friends. As I said above, Javier is careful about how he runs his place and because of that, the feeling from the other guests was also warm and respectful. We ended up having several dinners out with a number of other people staying at the hotel, because we all felt like such a community while we were there.

There is a restaurant below the property that serves a discounted breakfast and outstanding dinner. Other than that, it is a 5-10 minute walk down a steep hill to the main strip in town where everything is available. Stairs on the hillside are an easier way to get up and down the hill and if you take the stairs starting below the restaurant, you can take a break and cool off in the pool, which is right by the restaurant, before walking the rest of the way up! And honestly, the location of the property is amazing because you are off the main strip, so it's quiet and serene, and you don't get the noise and dust from the cars on the road. So even though you may curse the hill on the way up, once you are at the hotel, you are so happy to just chill in your hammock or on the lawn with a beer and the most amazing view of the ocean.

We stayed in a room with a fan rather than AC and even though the days were hot, directing the fan toward the bed was more than sufficient for comfortable nights--and I am a warm sleeper. The mattresses are a little hard...

Overall, a really special place and very reasonable for the quality and location. We would definitely recommend this place!!!!

I stayed for 5 nights in November 2013 and would thoroughly recommend Hotel Buenos Aires. I will admit that it's probably not for everybody - facilities are basic compared to a traditional hotel, breakfast not included and the hill is steep if you're on foot - but the rooms are spotless, the view is breathtaking, you're surrounded by wildlife and Javier is a terrific host. The hotel forces you to relax and bask in La Pura Vida, which is exactly what I was looking for.

Other bonuses are the proximity to the beach (with some great surfing) and the delicious restaurant attached to the hotel (well, down a few steps). Loads of cafes, bars, restaurants and surf shops nearby too.

A big thumbs up from me!

I stayed with Buenos Aires in early Dec 2013. The rooms are incredibly clean and the view is phenomenal!
Javier was fantastic from the very first email I sent with my original enquiry, right up until the day I left. The service he provided was friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
The hill is not too big to get up or down but is quite steep. However with plently of taxi's and quad bikes for hire it was never an issue getting to and from and there are some stairs from the restaurant to the rooms which also made it much easier.
I can very much recommend staying at Buenos Aires. The experience was so lovely and it really added to the wonderful holiday I had in Santa Teresa.
Thanks Javier!

Room Tip: I stayed in a room with a fan instead of a/c and that was more than sufficient. Very comfortable and...

My husband & I stayed 5 nights Dec 2nd-7th and we wished we would have stayed longer:( The hotel is located on top of a big hill & has the best view in town. Javier is an amazing host & the property is so clean & beautiful. Be sure to eat @ Javier's restaurant, Brisa's del Mar. It was the best food we ate on our 2 week Costa Rica vacation & we also traveled to Tamarindo & La Fortuna. Also, the Coco Loco Watermelon Sangria is to die for- we had 2 pitchers! Javier tried to pull our arm to stay a few days longer (our next stop was La Fortuna) and I wish we would have taken his advice. I didn't enjoy La Fortuna area as much as Santa Teresa. Santa Teresa was my cup of tea- you were right, Javier:) We hope to have the opportunity to stay @ Buenos Aires again. And if you ever feel crazy enough to travel to cold, snowy Minnesota... we have room available, Javier. Pura Vida!

Room Tip: We had a room on the first floor and loved the fan. No need for A.C & we saved a few bucks.
